About this property

Offering a charming base for a rural retreat to Devon, Pipkin Cottage rests in a pretty courtyard of cottages set around a quaint thatched pump house, once part of an estate farm serving Bridwell Park. Just a stone's throw from the centre of the village of Uffculme, Pipkin Cottage is perfectly placed for enjoying the delights of the Devonshire countryside, sleeping five guests in total. Be welcomed in through the porch before finding the homely sitting room to be the first room on the right, with a woodburning stove set in the fireplace and plush seating to relax on, you can wind down with a favourite film on the TV with DVD player after a busy day. Rustle up some tasty treats within the lovely country-style kitchen/diner, with a rustic breakfast table to gather around and all the appliances you need within the fitted kitchen, including a dishwasher and a washing machine! From here you can take your morning coffee into the private enclosed courtyard to the rear and wake up with the rest of the world as you watch the wide range of local birds come and go at the bird feeders. A cloakroom lies on the ground floor too, while upstairs you can freshen up after an energetic ramble within the pristine family bathroom, with a bath and a handheld shower offering somewhere to enjoy a long soak, and a walk-in shower too for quickly getting ready in the morning. Three beautiful bedrooms present a lovely place to settle down at the end of the day, with a double bedroom with built in wardrobe storage, a twin room with two single beds which can be pushed together on request to provide a spot for a second couple, and finally a single bedroom, all featuring ample storage and thoughtfully chosen interiors. Pipkin Cottage rests just a short drive away from the centre of the village of Uffculme, with a friendly atmosphere being home to a local shop within the Post Office, a pub and a takeaway along with various other businesses, as well as Coldharbour Mill, a museum detailing the old wool industry of the area. Explore the wondrous Blackdown Hills AONB where you can delight in plenty of walking and cycling routes, as well as bridleways and riding routes too, with a scattering of places to visit along the way, from places like Hembury Hillfort which is a prehistoric Iron Age site, to Otterhead Lakes resting on a former Victorian estate, with lakes and woodland being wonderful habitats for a host of animals and plants. A fun day out for all can be had at Diggerland Devon where full-size diggers, tractors and dumpers have been used to create exciting rides and drives for a unique day in the outdoors for all ages. Wander around the stunning grounds of the National Trust's Knightshayes Court, with this large gothic country mansion set within formal gardens with lots of woodland walks to enjoy, with the elegant Killerton House dating from 1778 being another excellent visit with landscaped gardens. A day trip to the exciting city of Exeter is worth being on the itinerary; walk along the medieval subterranean passageways that used to transport water beneath the city centre at Underground Passages, marvel at fascinating exhibits in the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, and head to Exeter Castle and Exeter Cathedral before delighting in lunch at one of the many excellent restaurants and cafés within this bustling town centre. Treat yourself and your family and friends to a relaxing stay in Devon at Pipkin Cottage.
