A mile from Wilmington, hidden in flower-filled lanes, two semi-detached single-storey cottages converted from barns across the lane from the friendly owners farmhouse. You are welcome to explore the 10 acres of surrounding heath and woodland and enjoy the wildlife (excellent birdwatching) with walks which are cut through organic wildflower meadows (picnic tables) and an ancient cider orchard, and a footpath meanders beside a river to Cotleigh. The cottages are smart and modern with high ceilings and Velux windows, some original beams and oak floors and each has a suntrap deck behind for enjoying peaceful valley views and soothing birdsong. 1 Shippen Cottages has an entrance into a porch which leads through stable doors into your bright open plan living space with leather seats, efficient kitchen, dining area and French windows to the decked area. The romantic double bedroom has a characterful brass bed for peaceful nights, and a shower room. Below the cottage (8 steps down), a shared lawn (with barbecues) and at the front, a shared gravelled parking area, laundry (washing machine, tumble drier) and barn, useful for your bicycles/beach gear etc. These are smart, comfortable cottages in a peaceful, picturesque location, much enjoyed by birdwatchers.

The cottages are located in a lovely quiet road that is central to both the coast and inland activities. The owners are lovely and really make us feel so welcome during our stay, Anne is a wonderful baker and there is always a cake there when we arrive. We have been deep sea fishing from Lyme Regis and brought some fish home and cooked it If you enjoy sewing I attended a course in Honiton at a lovely sewing shop .the garden at the cottages is full of birds due to all the feeders, ark the owner provides spotters book and binoculars so relaxing to sit on the deck and look for all the different birds. We saw a gorgeous Woodpecker this time Overall I would highly recommend a stay at the cottages, we loved our stays. We also visited the Donkey Sanctuary which has a marvellous restaurant where we had a great meal. We will be going back again
Michele
Wonderfully relaxing to sit on the deck and watch and listen to all the birds. I left a dress behind and Anne very kindly sent it back to me. I would definitely recommend.
