About this property

Polzeath 3.6 miles. Elmwood is a contemporary holiday home with all the modern comforts located in the heart of Trelights, three miles from the popular surfing beach of Polzeath and the film set of Doc Martin, Port Isaac on the North Cornwall coast. Comprising of four beautifully decorated bedrooms, this stylish abode welcomes families eager to experience this wonderful region of Cornwall. After a day of rambling the South West Coastal Path, head into the living room and get comfortable beside the woodburning stove, with the addition of a Smart TV for evening entertainment. Bi-folding doors lead to the enclosed garden patio, a relaxing space to enjoy the sounds of the countryside with a refreshing beverage in hand. The kitchen offers a refreshing palette of white and grey tones, along with a great selection of appliances where you can rustle up a home-cooked meal using fresh ingredients purchased from the nearby Trevathan Farm Shop. There is a separate utility area and an outside hose to rinse your beach gear and prepare for the next day on the coast. As you look to unwind, head upstairs and discover the four neatly presented bedrooms; the master houses a king-size bed and en-suite shower room, while there is also a super-king-size with zip/link beds, a double and a twin with zip/link beds. Serving the bedrooms is a modern bathroom with choice of bath and shower over. From your doorstep, take a stroll up the hill to the Longcross Hotel where you can enjoy some delicious local delicacies whilst admiring the far-reaching country and coastal views. Also within walking distance is a local farm shop that not only offers fresh groceries and a café; they also have a fantastic park for children to play in and animals to help the Trevathan team feed while you enjoy a well-deserved coffee break before heading back to your holiday cottage. Equidistant within three miles from Polzeath, widely known for its vast expanse of sand, surfing and scenic coastal walks on the South West Coast Path and the historic fisherman's port, Port Isaac. Polzeath has a plethora of shops and surf hire hubs including clothing, a local grocery store, cafes and seaside restaurants. No matter what surfing experience you have, Polzeath has it covered with surf hire and instructors who can guide you from beginner to advanced levels for those wanting to further improve their skills. For those Doc Martin fans, take a day trip to Port Isaac where you can sample the catch of the day, delicious cream teas and of course to take a look at Doc Martin’s house on Roscarrock Hill. However you choose to spend your holiday, return to the comfort of Elmwood to recharge your batteries.

Polzeath, a seaside resort with a sandy beach backed by rock pools, is regarded as one of the top surfing beaches in the country. The South West Coast Path, a 630-mile trail that goes through Polzeath, features a number of small businesses, cafes, and restaurants. Wadebridge, a prominent market town nestled alongside the River Camel with a variety of shops, pubs, and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's sole family-owned cinema, is little over seven miles away. The renowned Camel Trail runs through the village, and the neighbouring town of Padstow, with its port, pastel-washed ancient houses, and well-known eateries, is well worth visiting. Newquay, the UK surfing centre, is only a short drive away, with over 11 kilometres of golden sand beaches. Polzeath is a great place to start your explorations of this section of Cornwall.

Everything is just as the photos, really lovely, clean and modern with lots of little touches that make it feel homely but still with the feeling of a holiday house near the sea. We found it had everything we were looking for at a reasonable price. The garden is peaceful and quiet and lovely to sit out in the evening with a glass of wine. You do need a car but everything is within easy reach and a short drive away. We found Trelights a good location in the middle of and not far at all from the popular spots that we visited , Port Isaac, Polzeath, Rock , ferry to Padstow. We enjoyed walking down to the pretty little cove of Port Quin which was a lovely 20 min countryside walk from the house where you can join the costal path and walk all the way to Port Isaac or Polzeath in the other direction if you enjoy walking which we did a couple of times. Everything was lovely and we will be looking forward to our next visit.

The house was modern, exceptionally clean, well presented, just as the photos show and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Beds comfortable with lovely linen. Elmwood is in a pretty hamlet within a short drive to all the lovely beaches and places we wanted to visit close by and reasonably priced in comparison to others in more central locations. We actually preferred coming back to the peacefulness after a busy day than being in the busier areas that we have stayed previously. There aren’t any shops within walking distance but a great farm shop with all the essentials you need a 5 minute drive away. We will definitely be booking again.

On our arrival no welcome pack . I appreciate the economic pressures we are living in but I think at least a pint of milk in the fridge would not break the bank . The microwave is very small and only 600w really inadequate. The crockery very basic Ikea therefore chipped plate and teapot should be replaced . Broken blind in one bedroom , blood stain on a duvet cover concealed under a throw . Bath towels small standard size . No information pack provided by the owner with basic info regarding local facilities, places of interest and bin recycling collection/regulations .I know this is not essential but we have always found this useful.
