About this property

Bailey Cottage is a stylish single-storey cottage standing detached from the owner's home in a tranquil rural setting near Stithians village, close to Falmouth in Cornwall. Set on one floor, the cool white interior, splashed with vibrant colourful furnishings makes for inviting accommodation; perfect for couples or a small family looking to explore the wonders of Cornwall. The open-plan living space consists of a contemporary, fully-equipped kitchen where you can whip up tasty meals for the whole family, a neat dining area to enjoy them and a spacious sitting area which is the perfect place to unwind after a day full of exploration. When the evening draws to a close, retire to either of the two bright and airy bedrooms; a king-size looking over the gardens and fields beyond, and a single room. A smart bathroom offers a walk-in shower cubicle, perfect for a good soak after a long day on the beach. To the front of the cottage is a lawned garden and to the rear, a small gravelled courtyard with a picnic bench to enjoy the warm evening sun. Stithians has a small Post Office/store and The Golden Lion Inn which serves good food, ideal for a much-needed break from the kitchen. Stithians Lake is popular for watersports, providing hours of endless fun as well as angling and birdwatching; there are also an abundance of walks woven throughout the surrounding countryside. Just a short drive away is the bustling harbour town of Falmouth which boasts golden sandy beaches where you can soak up the sun, splash around in the sea or simply admire the breath-taking views. You can also find the tranquil creeks and inlets of Restronguet and Mylor, a number of golf courses, tropical gardens and the coast to coast cycle trail. With so much to see and do Bailey Cottage is ideally situated for exploring the best of this part of Cornwall.

A good holiday spot, this Cornish village and civil parish is on the northwestern outskirts of Falmouth, close to other great destinations like Redruth and Helston and the city of Truro. The village is bounded on the west by the 300-acre Stithians Reservoir, a popular spot for birdwatching, watersports, and leisurely family strolls. Stithians is home to a shop, a pub, and a parish church, but its agricultural show is what draws the most attention. Nearby sights and activities include the 16th-century Pendennis and St. Mawes castles on the south coast, the peaceful Trelissick Garden near the city of Truro with its breathtaking views of the River Fal, and the lovely 40-hectare Tregothnan Estate. The Heritage Coast's charming fishing villages of Fowey and Polperro are also conveniently close by. Other nearby attractions include the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project. The best option for a holiday in Cornwall.

Lovely welcome from Penny plus flowers, biscuits and cider and treats for Lu. Everything we needed, comfortable and bright. Great access to both coasts and walks, attractions, cafes etc.

Good situation for Western parts of Cornwall. Easy to find using what three words.

Communication with our hosts was excellent with clear, helpful instructions and Cornish biscuits and cider to welcome us. The cottage itself is beautifully clean and very well equipped. The bed in the second bedroom is small which was fine for me as I’m only 5’1. The kitchen is great but it’s the only time I’ve been to a holiday cottage and not found basics like salt and pepper in the cupboard.Luckily the shop in the village is only a few minutes drive and stays open quite late. There are nice pubs only a few minutes drive away too. The Golden Lion by the lake is excellent for food and dog friendly. We enjoyed our stay in Bailey Cottage. It was quiet, clean, comfortable and well equipped.Thank you!
