About this property

St John 1 mile. The Carew Lodge is a romantic, ground-floor apartment adjoining the owner's well-established pub, The Carew Arms, in Antony near St John, Cornwall. With a studio-style layout, this spacious apartment is suitable for a couple's getaway, providing private off-road parking and additional on road parking, home comforts, and a great location for touring Cornwall and Devon. Step inside to find a contemporary, open-plan living space with a kitchen area to stock up the cupboards and rustle up evening meals with ease. You can dine at the stylish breakfast bar facing a large window bringing in plenty of natural light or at the dining table for four. After the day's adventures, settle down in the sitting area with cushioned seating and a wall-mounted TV, whilst the woodburning stove gently warms your feet on colder nights; the sofa is also a sofa bed to sleep two children! Before catching your rest in the king-size bed, freshen up in the stylish shower room with a spacious, contemporary walk-in shower. The peaceful village of Antony is a lovely base away from the hustle and bustle for your romantic getaway; you'll have The Carew Arms country pub and restaurant just next door serving local and seasonal produce, a varied menu, and a beer garden to relax in the sunshine, whilst you can pick up essentials at St John Village Shop just a short drive away. There are plenty of attractions nearby in an area known for wonderful bird watching and boating opportunities, along with the historic Queen Anne estate, Antony, offering tours and walled gardens, the unspoilt sands of Tregantle Beach, and idyllic walks along the Wacker Quay. Be sure to pack your walking boots for romantic hikes along the Rame Head Heritage Coast dotted with sandy coves, restaurants, and historic sites, including Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park. Alternatively, wander the town of Torpoint offering ferries to the port city of Plymouth; Devil's Point, Theatre Royal Plymouth, and National Marine Aquarium are just some of the activities on offer! The National Trust Georgian house of Saltram has a lavish interior and landscaped grounds to explore, as well as the Tamar Valley AONB just north of the city, whilst more picturesque coastal paths and beaches await along the South Devon AONB. Further afield, you'll find the historic Port Eliot Gardens, Seaton Beach close to the town of Looe, and the remote Bodmin Moor; Golitha Falls National Nature Reserve, Bodmin Jail Attraction, and Temple Trout Fisheries offer something for everyone! However you spend your romantic escape to Devon and Cornwall, you'll love returning to The Carew Lodge.

In the forests and fields surrounding the Tamar estuary, this quaint community is just a short drive from Plymouth. It's close enough to the city (4 miles away by ferry) to take use of all its amenities, but far enough away from the people to be peaceful. Boaters and birders alike will delight in this location. St. John's Lake, home to a variety of wildlife and walking trails, is just a five-minute walk away from the inn. Cawsand and Kingsand, two of the most stunning seaside villages in the South West, are just two miles from the South West Coast Path. You may also explore Plymouth's historic docklands and the National Marine Aquarium, all of which are worth a look. This is the perfect location for individuals who want to be close to the ocean, the countryside, small-town pubs, and cities.

Just a bit to much road noise for me and my wife.

50pm. The owner seemed to think that it was ok for someone to bolt the gate to the enclosure on the outside so that we could not get out to access prescription drugs from our car. We were locked in overnight and the consequences could have been serious. Needs double glazing, blackout curtains and a ladder to reach the windows behind the breakfast bar.

    Will be going back sometime.
