Guests that stayed at this property said

Most guests found the apartment to be very clean and tidy, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, a few mentioned issues such as dusty areas and a mouldy shower, slightly affecting the overall impression.

The apartment's location is highly praised for its amazing sea views and tranquillity. Its proximity to coastal paths and local sights is a highlight, although the approach road and distance from parking to the apartment are noted as considerations.

Guests report the apartment as cosy, warm, and comfortable, with high-quality bed linens and furnishings. Some concerns were raised about heating efficiency and meal seating arrangements, but overall comfort levels are rated highly.

The apartment is well-equipped, but some guests experienced issues with maintenance such as non-working DVD players and kitchen appliances. The lack of access to certain amenities like the swimming pool and tennis courts was also a point of dissatisfaction.

While many guests mentioned and appreciated the thoughtful gestures such as welcome cream teas and Christmas decorations, there is not enough information to guarantee such gifts for future guests, and thus a score cannot be accurately provided.

About this property

Cannon's Folly is a stylish studio apartment in Fort Picklecombe, the striking 19th century former fort looking over the sea. With amazing views all around along the Devon and Cornwall coasts, it is a fascinating spot to sit and watch the nautical world go by (binoculars provided). Leave your boots and coats in the hall and head into the beautifully finished open plan living space with sofa bed where you can sit and observe the ever-changing scene of passing ships and the light shining over the waves. Sliding open the doors to the balcony will bring the outside in. The double bedroom is separated from the living area, from here you can take the opportunity to lie in bed and gaze at that view. Bring your water sports and walking gear, which can be left in the outer hall, giving you the perfect opportunity to enjoy the beaches and sailing opportunities around pretty Kingsand and Cawsand, as well as walking the fabulous Mount Edgcumbe estate with its grand house and extensive gardens. For the vibrant buzz of Plymouth, it's easy to catch a pedestrian ferry or the car ferry to the Ocean City, where you can go to the theatre, shop, eat out and visit the National Marine Aquarium. With all this within convenient reach, as well as those timeless sea views to linger over, Cannon's Folly really is a stunning destination.

Kingsand is one of two twin villages in Cornwall, England, and is situated on the Rame Peninsula and the Cawsand Bay. With many fishing opportunities, local sandy beaches to enjoy, and a range of pubs and restaurants in nearby villages, you will not be short of things to do here. One of its most notable features is the clock tower, situated at the seafront.

Warm, cosy, quiet & comfortable apartment. Had everything we needed, including plenty of hot water. Tea, coffee, milk & biscuits were much appreciated. New owner, Paul, kindly delivered bedding, so our son could join us, (we forgot to ask for a bottom sheet & towels). We sprayed the shower, gave it a rub & the black mould is no more. We also cleaned the patio windows, shame they were not sparkling on arrival. Patio set needs replacing, (rusty). Note - parking is in the lowest car park under the fort. Lifts were working fine & shopping trolleys available to help with luggage.

The apartment was nicely furnished, very comfortable and well equipped. The view overlooking the sea was wonderful. We had an excellent time. Thank you

Although it was compact, we did not feel on top of each other and the space has been utilised really well. The location is very secluded so if you want peace and quiet with uninterrupted views of Plymouth Sound, this is the place to be. There are few minor negatives which did not impact our stay and would not prevent us staying again. This is more for the owners knowledge so the matters can be rectified. The DVD player doesn’t work. The tumble drier doesn’t dry clothes. The property was quite dusty. The extractor fan was caked in dust and cobwebs. Some light fittings and around pictures was dusty as well. There is a light fitting in the bathroom, and a spotlight over the hob that does not work. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and would recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful break.
