The bungalow is ideally located for exploring the North Cornwall area and its many attractions. The nearby village of St Merryn has 2 pubs, restaurants and takeaways.
The bungalow, which sleeps 4 people, is located in a quiet cul-de-sac on St Merryn Park near Padstow. It makes an ideal base for exploring North Cornwall. On site facilities include a bar/restaurant, a small convenience store, dog walking area and tennis court.
The surrounding area is known as Seven Bays, and includes the beaches of Constantine, Harlyn and Treyarnon all within a 10 minute drive. Relax on the beach, take a surf or paddle board lesson ( Constantine and Harlyn have surf schools), take a walk along the South West Coast Path, explore the rock pools at low tide, bird watch - there’s plenty to do within a few miles.
The village of St Merryn, 5 minutes drive from the bungalow, has 2 pubs, a couple of restaurants, fish and chip shop, Chinese takeaway, bakery, burger bar and a well-stocked grocery shop.
The harbour town of Padstow is approximately 3 miles. You can take a ferry across the estuary to Rock and walk the coast path along to Daymer Bay and the 12th century St Enodoc Church which was buried in the sand dunes for 300 years. Carry on to Polzeath or further to Pentire Headland with its stunning views. If you’re lucky you might see seals, dolphins or even a basking shark.
The Camel Trail begins at Padstow and runs along the old railway line for 18 miles, offering a safe and easy cycle ride (cycle hire in Padstow and Wadebridge). The estuary alongside is a haven for wading birds throughout the seasons.
If you go inland, Bodmin Moor is a real change in scenery with rugged tors, wild ponies, country pubs, ancient standing stones like the Hurlers, and the gravity defying Cheesewring. There are walking and cycling trails through Cardinham Woods, visit the Woods Cafe afterwards for lunch or tea and cake. Golitha Falls, in the ancient woodland of Draynes Woods, are a series of waterfalls and cascades following the course of the River Fowey.
A popular family day out is Camel Creek Adventure Park which offers amusement rides and animal attractions . The Eden Project, built in an old china clay quarry, houses the world’s largest indoor rainforest. Or for something completely different visit Bodmain Jail and discover its Victorian past.
