Unique to Mermaids, a wrought iron staircase descends from the house to Bamaluz below, so guests can go from breakfast to the beach in seconds. A superb upper-floor terrace with its own panoramic vantage of the bay adds to the wonderful space on offer, and here you can relax in the sunshine, sip bubbly, chat, and watch the changing moods of the ocean from sunrise to sundown.

Mermaids combines two properties with multiple living areas, two fabulous kitchens, generous dining spaces and a collection of beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms, making it easy for families and friends to gather while still enjoying their own space. Whether sharing breakfast before a day on the beach, returning from a swim for lunch overlooking the sea, or settling in for an evening meal with the sound of the waves below, life here naturally revolves around the coastline.

For coastal escapes with excellent beaches, food and shopping, St Ives is a dream, and this holiday home rests mere metres from it all. Bamaluz Beach is quieter than the town’s bigger beaches and allows dogs all year round. The Harbour is literally a stone’s throw from the front door, while Fore Street’s restaurants, delis, bakeries and galleries are no more than a five-minute walk. Neighbouring Porthgwidden Beach is three minutes on foot, and Porthmeor Beach and Café, along with the Tate St Ives, is around six minutes.

Mermaids is a five-story home which can be booked as two individual holiday cottages, Mermaids accommodates parties of up to 10. Mermaids 2 is the lower half of the house and Mermaids 3 is the upper. Both properties are kept completely private from the other when booked individually.

Entrance One (Ground Floor Access)

This property has level access from the street and is set over 2 floors with the living, kitchen, dining area, a bedroom and a family bathroom on the ground floor, and the en-suite master bedroom on the lower ground

Access to the beach is via a steep spiral staircase from the lower ground floor to the rocks. Children and dogs will need to be supervised

This property is accessed via 12 external steps and has two internal staircases

Living Room One (Ground Floor)

Open plan with the kitchen and dining area, the living room has superb sea views through two sets of French doors which open onto a long Juliet balcony. Furnished with two sofas, an armchair, footstool, side tables and a sideboard, the room also has a Smart TV with Freeview and a Bluetooth speaker

The living area is on the first floor and has a large sofa and two armchairs, a huge Smart TV with Freeview and a Bluetooth speaker

Kitchen One (Ground Floor)

Open to the living and dining space, the kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and integrated grill, induction hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, wine cooler and dishwasher. Smaller appliances include a Nespresso pod coffee machine, kettle and toaster

Kitchen Two (First Floor)

The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven with integrated grill, induction hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Smaller appliances include a kettle, toaster and Nespresso pod coffee machine, while a wine cooler is a welcome addition for longer stays

Utility (First Floor)

A utility cupboard off the hallway houses a washer / dryer. An iron, ironing board and vacuum cleaner are also provided

Dining Area One (Ground Floor)

Positioned alongside the kitchen and sitting room, the dining area seats four guests and takes in wonderful sea views across the bay

Dining Area Two (First Floor)

Also on the first floor and open to the living room, the dining area has a spacious table with ten chairs, making it ideal for gathering over breakfast before heading to the beach or sharing supper at the end of the day. Doors open to the furnished terrace where stunning sea views are displayed

Bedroom One (Lower Ground Floor)

This bedroom has exceptional up-close sea views. Furnished with a king-size bed, bedside tables and lamps, a standalone wardrobe, mirror and hairdryer, the deep window reveal creates a wonderful place to sit and watch the water below. The room also has an en-suite bathroom and access to the beach

Bedroom Two (Ground Floor)

Furnished with a king-size bed, bedside tables and lamps, a standalone wardrobe, mirror and hairdryer. This room has a Smart TV with Freeview

Bedroom Three (First Floor)

With views over the Downalong, towards the harbour, and across the sea. This room is en-suite and is furnished with a king size bed, bedside tables and lamps, an integrated wardrobe, mirror and hairdryer. A bench seat positioned at the window, showcases the sea views

Outside Space One (Lower Ground Floor)

One of the property's most remarkable features is its connection to the beach. A wrought iron spiral staircase descends from the lower ground floor to the rocks below. Please note that the steps are steep and may get slippery in the wet. The final section does not have a handrail

Outside Space Two (First Floor)

With one of the best positions in St Ives, the property has a large sea-facing balcony/terrace with plenty of space for outdoor dining and relaxing. Looking directly over Bamaluz Beach and the bay beyond, it catches the sun throughout the day and provides a wonderful place to sit with a morning coffee or evening drink. String lights overhead add a magical touch to evenings spent together, chatting and watching the sun set

For additional cars, the long stay Island Car Park is a minute’s walk from the property but please note that this car park is very popular so space availability is limited during the busier months
