About this property

This lovely cottage lies tucked away in the heart of St Ives, just 5 minutes-walk from the harbour, and makes a fantastic base from which to explore the town’s charming streets, restaurants, art galleries and beaches. Recently refurbished, the cottage is laid out over three floors with open plan living / cooking / dining on the ground level and three bedrooms above. Light and airy, the lounge features a bay window and whitewashed floors with a large navy blue L-shaped sofa and 50’s inspired contemporary chairs for relaxing on. When you’re not out exploring, you’ll be able to kick back in front of the television; or gather around the dining table in the kitchen for a bite to eat or to discuss the day’s plans together.

St Ives is best known for its picturesque harbour, and iconic Tate St Ives art gallery which sits right on Porthmeor beach. Close to the cottage are the Trewyn Sub Tropical Gardens and The Barbara Hepworth studio and garden, both terrific places for days out with the family, as well as the many wonderful beaches in the area. Mermaid’s House offers the ideal layout for families with young children but is also suited to groups of friends and couples. Two bedrooms lie on the first floor of the property, with the gorgeous master bedroom taking up the whole of the top floor. There are two bathrooms as well which means guests will have all the space they need to be comfortable during their stay, and a quaint courtyard garden creates a delightful place to catch a few of the sun’s rays over a morning coffee.

If you’d like to surf while on holiday, Porthmeor which is favoured by the locals is the best place for it. St Ives Surf School are based here and offer wetsuit and board hire as well as a variety of surf lessons. The nearby Porthminster Beach is a good all-rounder for the whole family and there’s also a wonderful beach café there where you’ll be able to enjoy a cold drink and watch the waves roll in.
