About this property

This contemporary, first-floor apartment sits in a modern development in the popular harbour town of St Ives. Boasting panoramic sea views over Porthmeor beach, Louies Loft provides a first-class escape for a family of four looking to holiday in Cornwall. Enter the apartment and head into the open-plan living space and immediately you will be drawn to the stunning beach views. The kitchen boasts everything you could possibly need, including Neff and Smeg appliances, Porcelanosa tiles, and top-notch hacienda black oak, providing the perfect environment to prepare, cook and enjoy mealtimes as a family. Serve up the fruits of your labour at the dining table before sinking into the sumptuous settee and tuning into the 55” Smart TV. Watch the sunset from the balcony, boasting spectacular seaside views as you enjoy a glass of your favourite beverage, and in the cooler months, the glass doors provide a wonderful backdrop for the living area. Head to the bedrooms to lay your rest, including a king-size with Smart TV and bunk room. Both bedrooms have Jack-and-Jill access to the shower room, featuring stunning tiling and a rainfall shower. The Porthmeor Beach, a sanctuary for watersports and surfing, can be accessed from the development through a residence door, while St. Ives Harbour is only a short stroll away; here you can spend the days people watching and appreciating a variety of boats that draw into the dock. St. Ives offers a selection of tasty eateries and independent shops, and lunch at the oldest pub in St. Ives, The Sloop Pub, is a must, and you can stock up at the Norway Stores, a 100 metre walk from the property. Lace up your walking boots and trail the South West Coast Path before wandering into the centre of St Ives to find a pub for a refreshing pint and bit of grub. There’s also a wealth of fantastic restaurants to sample, including The Rum & Crab Shack for the catch of the day, Pedn Olva with a sun terrace for alfresco meals, and Porthminster Beach Café. Be sure to explore the wonders of Tate St. Ives and the sculptures of the Barbara Hepworth Museum, a must for the artists of the group, whilst those seeking a bit of fun can head to the Paradise Park and Jungle Barn Cornwall for a great day out! Choose Louies Loft for a sleek escape to this bustling Cornish destination.

One of Cornwall's prettiest harbour towns, St Ives offers narrow streets, tight-packed cottages nestling around the quayside, the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth Museum, fabulous beaches, superb shops, a thriving community of artists, great pubs and restaurants and much more. With its semi-Bohemian lifestyle and romantic air, it's easy to see why this is the county's premier holiday resort. The surrounding area has much for the visitor to see and do with abundant wildlife, fabulous coastal walks, top quality surfing and the Celtic mysteries of the Land's End Peninsula are all within easy reach. A superb destination!

The apartment was tasteful, comfortable, warm and had everything we needed, not to mention those spectacular sea views! Previous guests have mentioned parking, but there is very reasonable parking at Porthmeor Beach and Island car parks, both within a few minutes walk. The only downside was the fact that the promised access door from the property directly onto the beach has been nailed shut and boarded up for the winter. Sykes Cottages do not mention this in the property spec, and when I queried it, stated they did not know the door is closed and that it is not their responsibility to know! My suggestion of a small goodwill discount for this lack of communication and inconvenience caused was met by Sykes with a flat-out refusal. It rather soured our experience despite the beautiful accommodation. So please do be aware, if the beach access (on this popular surfers beach) is important to you - you.
