About this property

Perfectly placed for long beaches, sea air, great walks and foodie restaurants, Gwent Cottage sits in the pretty village of St Issey, just over three miles from holiday hotspot Padstow. Away from the hustle and bustle, this smart semi-detached stone cottage with an enclosed courtyard garden is the perfect retreat for couples, families, city escapees and being dog friendly it is perfect for everyone seeking some glorious R&R. Tasteful interiors compliment this delightful traditional Cornish cottage with its wood burning stove, thick stone walls and exposed beams. There is a comfortable sitting room with the log burner, great art, books, games and a TV/DVD. The compact well-equipped kitchen adjoins a large utilities area with a fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Eat at the chunky wooden dining table or outside in the suntrap courtyard garden which offers a good level of privacy and is bright and cheerful with flowers in summer. Head upstairs to two pretty bedrooms with comfortable mattresses, cotton bed linens and ample storage. The double bedroom has a charming en-suite bathroom while guests in the single bedroom have use of a stylish shower room. Just the property for families with children, there is a comfortable attic room set beneath the eaves on the second floor. A great place to hang out on the futon sofa in front of a second TV, you will find Super Nintendo, traditional board games, books and a games table including table football and pool. It is light and airy with Velux window and on clear days there are panoramic views over open countryside towards the distant seascape. Gwent Cottage sits in the heart of the village, opposite the quaint 17th century inn which is dog-friendly and offers proper Cornish ales, a delicious home cooked menu, and cosy log burning stove in winter. This part of Cornwall is among the most desirable and sought after in the county. The long tracts of sandy beach at Constantine Bay, Harlyn Bay, and Treyarnon Bay are a 10 minute drive. Wander down the lane to the side of the property and within 10/15 minutes you will find the Pickwick Inn with its gardens and restaurant. Hop in the car and you can discover Trevibbhan Mill, a Cornish vineyard where wine tasting can be enjoyed on their sunny terrace (seasonal opening times). Scenic walks commence from the front doorstep, so maybe with dog in tow, why not head along the creek side path to The River Camel and then onto Padstow for a delicious lunch at the famous restaurants of celebrity chefs, Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth and some great cafes for coffee and cake or a day browsing the trendy boutiques and galleries. With Tintagel Castle, Eden Project, Trevose Golf Club, Camel Creek Adventure Park and Blue Reef Aquarium all within easy reach, there are plenty of opportunities for fun family days out.

St Issey is a small rural hamlet with a church, pub and village shop, just 3 miles from the beautiful fishing village of Padstow. There are several top quality bathing and surfing beaches within 5 miles and the coastal path wends its way over the cliff tops and down among the rocky coves through some of Cornwall’s best coastal scenery. The little gem of Padstow with its famous restaurants, tranquil harbour and interesting shops should not be missed, and the Camel cycling and walking trail from Padstow to Bodmin makes a great day out.
