Plan a countryside breather at this restful meadow retreat, where a shepherd’s hut and separate cabin make a welcoming hideaway for solo travellers or couples. Cornwall’s north and south coasts are within reach, with Mawgan Porth (8.5 miles) a tempting first stop for beach time, seaside cafes and restaurants. In Crantock (9.5 miles), combine a village stroll with a gallery visit, coffee and pizza. Watergate Bay and Newquay’s beaches (8–9 miles) are wonderful for coastal walks and discovering beautiful bays and coves. Head to Padstow (12.5 miles) to absorb its bustling harbour atmosphere and treat yourselves to a slap-up meal at one of its excellent restaurants. Wadebridge (12 miles) is another option for a bite to eat during your explorations. For a south-coast day trip, try the sailing town of Fowey (18 miles) or the harbour village of Mevagissey (15 miles).

You’ll climb five iron steps up to this duo of cabins, starting with the sleeping quarters where there’s a cosy 4ft double bed and an en-suite shower room with a WC. Step outside and enter the separate cabin to discover a comfortable living space with a sofa and coffee table. Settle here with a book between outings, or get busy in the kitchen area preparing breakfast, an easy lunch or a picnic to take out tomorrow. Upcycled and reclaimed materials feature throughout both sections, giving this thoughtfully crafted retreat plenty of individual character.

Head back down the steps to reach your private hot tub and fire-pit BBQ, all ready for laid-back evenings cooking and soaking amidst those countryside views. You’re also welcome to explore the shared gardens and spend some time in the on-site games room, equipped with a dartboard, pool table and a Smart TV. Feeling expressive? Book an abstract art workshop and cream tea on arrival. Sauna sessions and a cold-water plunge are also available to book in the same way. You’ll have private parking for one car.
