About this property

Built in the early 1600’s, Trehaverock Cottage is a much-loved family holiday home situated in St Endellion, close to the North Cornwall coast. This charming self-catering holiday cottage sleeps up to six guests in four cosy bedrooms, making it an ideal base for all the family, including your pet, or a group of friends sharing. The property has bundles of charm and character from the slate flooring, exposed ceiling beams and stone fireplace. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped, with everything you could need for self-catering during your stay, and the conservatory dining room is the perfect spot to enjoy your evening meals. When the sun is shining you can throw the doors open and eat outside or play ball games on the lawned garden. In the evenings settle in front of the woodburning stove in the sitting room, or if you are musically inclined, tinkle a tune on the piano. If you do have to catch up on a bit of work while you are away, then the study is the perfect spot to shut yourself away. There are three bedrooms located on the first-floor including the master super-king size bedroom, double room, and twin room, as well as a family bathroom. There is a further double bedroom to be found on the upper ground-floor, which is served by a shower room with WC. St Endelion is a small village roughly 8 miles inland from the North Cornwall coast. The village is known for St Endellion Church, described by the former Archbishop Rowan Williams as his favourite English Church, and which remains a huge part of the spiritual community including the St Endellion Music Festivals and Endelienta. There are number of incredible beaches just a short drive away such as Polzeath, Daymer Bay, Trebarwith Strand, and Harlyn. From Trehaverock you are also within a 10 minute drive of the renowned haven of Rock on the Camel estuary, with its charming foot ferry leading to the culinary jewel that is Padstow. Discover the beauty of North Cornwall from your base at Trehaverock Cottage.

It is obviously a well-loved second home. Unfortunately on the first two days of our stay, the next door farm was relaying a road using a very noisy road-roller. It didn't stop until 7.30pm on the first evening and then started up again at 7.20am on the Sunday morning. It was so loud, all the crockery in the cottage was rattling on the shelves and we all had such awful headaches we gave up on the idea of a relaxing Sunday morning and went out for the day. Emails/messages to both Sykes and the farm next door were not answered (no phone reception so could not call). We were hugely relieved that it stopped by the time we returned on Sunday evening (we had been contemplating having to cut our holiday short as it was so unbearable). It is worth noting that the cottage is on a busy road - if you're used to just the sound of the birds you might not want to choose here. The cottage could definitely (and easily) be cleaner. There were a lot of rather large cobwebs and we avoided using the very mouldy shower that other reviewers had warned against. It seems the cleaner only cleans the essentials! The house was very well stocked with most things you'd need (no welcome pack but that didn't bother us) - plus lots of personal things that you wouldn't expect to be left...we had great fun playing "through the keyhole" and guessing whose house it was! There were quite a lot of items that were cracked/chipped/broken (glasses with cracks, broken knife, chipped mugs etc) - but there were enough that weren't so we managed. This cottage is also an AirBnB property and the owner has left a comment on there to explain that this is a family holiday home, and so you shouldn't expect brand new matching crockery, carefully chosen furnishings etc as you might in some holiday cottages. I think this is a fair assessment - it's won't suit everyone but if you want a really homely holiday cottage, then you'd probably love this.

There was only two of us so we did rattle round a bit! Weather was excellent so we spent most of our time in the garden and conservatory. Good location for visiting some beautiful places. The only criticism as I’m sure you know is the very noisy road, especially at night!!

the house would need some maintenance and thorough cleaning. great location for touring Cornwall. the hair dryer was not available even though it was written. as soon as we arrived the hot water and the heating didn't work but luckily we had an urgent number and after half an hour the plumber arrived and fixed everything.
