About this property

The contemporary and spacious Hillywych House is located in Portreath, Cornwall, and is an ideal home base for a large family or group of friends, welcoming eight guests. Boasting sleek furnishings, a private courtyard and an open-plan living layout, benefit from an inviting social hub, whilst gathering in the bright and airy dining area. Sit back and unwind with a glass of wine, with the wall-mounted TV in sight, whilst the designated chef takes advantage of the well-stocked kitchen. In the warmer months, dine al fresco, enjoy a barbecue, or simply appreciate some peace and quiet in the morning with a hot cup of coffee, all possible from your suntrap garden. Featuring plush bedding and ample storage, your party can choose between a super-king ensuite, king-size, or two twin rooms, all serviced by a convenient shower room. The peaceful tramway that connects miles of picturesque off-road cycling and walking trails, around Cornwall, is Hillywych House’s backdrop. A beautiful park is directly across from the property, ideal for taking the dogs for a walk, whilst 100 metres away is a playground area with an artificial turf football pitch. Portreath, recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is surrounded by stunning cliffs, a beach, and forests, and it has a lengthy history; you can take a soak in one of the many rock baths that were carved out for Lady Basset in the 18th century. There is also a well-known surf spot off the harbour wall. You can reach many wonderful (dog-friendly) pubs, pop-up food stalls, cafes, stores, beaches, the harbour, and cliffs within a short stroll. If you wish to try some of the fresh local delicacies, you may choose your own fruit and vegetables at Trevaskis Farm, while nearby fishermen sell their catch from the port hut adjacent to the guard stations. Dog-friendly parks include Tehidy Country Park, Illogan Woods, and Basset's Cove. Within a short drive, you can reach the lovely beaches of Godrevy, Gwithians Towans, and Hayle as well as historic sites like East Pool Mine, Cornwall Gold, and Tolgus Mill. St.Ives, Perranporth, St.Agnes, Newquay, and Falmouth are excellent day outings; travel inland to discover the Great Flat Lode's many distinctive mining historical pathways. The Lost Gardens of Heligan, St. Michael's Mount, The Eden Project, Newquay Zoo, Paradise Park, Penzance Lido, and Geopools are just a few of the places you can explore within proximity to your abode. Choose Hillywych Houses as your family’s home-from-home, all-year round.

Portreath's protected harbour made it an important tin-exporting port in the 1800s. The village's untamed shoreline attracts people from throughout the world. High cliffs, hidden coves, and sandy, surf-washed beaches characterise the region, which is rich in industrial history. Portreath has a small fishing harbour, stores, taverns, cafés, and a Chinese restaurant, and its protected sandy beach is popular. Visit Truro, 14 miles away, with its cobblestone streets, retail centre, theatre, museum, and wonderful restaurants, or drive a few miles along the coast to Hayle and St. Ives. A lovely getaway.
