With its unparalleled proximity, you could throw a pebble into the harbour from the charming little patio. Watching the bustle of fishing life through a panoramic window from within the cosiness of Old Quay, is the essence of ‘living TV’. Fishing boats of all sizes and types come and go day and night, whilst fishermen busy themselves on moored boats and old piers.

Look out for the local grey seals who regularly enter the harbour in hope of an easy meal. They can occasionally even be seen from Old Quay.

The views from Old Quay are exceptional. As you gaze out over the breakwater and across Mounts Bay, you’ll see the famous St Michaels Mount. Penzance promenade is clearly visible to your left including Jubilee Pool. Following the bay around to the right you’ll see the charming and popular town of Marazion and its beach. The views continue seaward to the gorgeous harbour town of Porthleven in the far distance.

This cosy ground-floor apartment is both well-proportioned and cosy. Should you wish to cook some locally caught seafood, there is a roomy and well-equipped kitchen/dinner with an oven, hob, and air-fryer. There is a dish washer and a washer/dryer. For lovers of coffee there is a bean grinder and a DeLonghi coffee machine. Should you wish to have a break from cooking, Old Quay has a traditional 16th century pub next door, which has great food reviews.

Both bedrooms have king sized beds with thick, premier mattresses for a blissful sleep after a day of sightseeing. There is an en-suite plus another bathroom with a floor-level double shower. There is a 50” TV and a Bluetooth speaker in the living room. The framed beach and harbour images are one-off originals captured by the owner.

Noise is a problem that even most expensive hotels struggle with. While cutting out all external noise is virtually impossible, the owner of Old Quay has spent a fortune making this apartment as quiet as possible, including the installation of acoustic glass.

A private space for one car is right outside your door. This is extremely rare, especially on the waterfront.

You can easily get by without a car. The rail network to Penzance is excellent, then a short bus ride from the station takes you to right outside Old Quay. A regular bus service to the charming harbour village of Mousehole also leaves and returns to Old Quay. Buses from Old Quay also connect you to Penzance, Marazion, the hele-port and ferry. Both have daily schedules to the stunning Isles of Silly.

Newlyn is a famous fishing port which is as authentic as it is enchanting. Historic old fishing related buildings and piers are nostalgic reminders of a bygone era. That said, some of the old fishing techniques are still used by the Newlyn fishermen to this day.

A food lover’s delight. Aside of the many established and noteworthy restaurants, new eateries continue to open and serve the best of foods prepared by passionate chefs. Due to the speciality fish restaurants, Newlyn has become a well-publicised haven for lovers of flavoursome fish dishes. Locally farmed meats are also delicious options.

Cornish beers, wines and spirits have also gained enviable reputations.

Aside from the many independent shops and characterful cafés, Newlyn has its own privately owned cinema, which is a rarity these days. This beautifully restored building also has a bar and restaurant. Newlyn is also famous for its art, and this is evident throughout this old town.

Newlyn’s location is also unique. The beautiful county of Cornwall narrows rapidly here enabling both coasts to be accessed quickly. Each coast has its own gems, from pure white sandy beaches and hidden coves to Cornish mines perched precariously on steep, jagged cliffs.

Maritime enchantment and the warmest welcome await you at Old Quay.

Old Quay is terrifically positioned on the frontline overlooking the harbour and the wide sweep of Mount's Bay - great spectacle day and night. The apartment is well thought out, very well equipped, comfortable, warm [November visit], plenty big enough for 4 adults, and extremely dog friendly. Although boasting a gold dust parking space, there is much to do within walking distance and a shuttle bus stops outside the front door every 20 min. The local culinary offering is brilliant.A real find.
