Brea Cottage in Penzance, Cornwall, is a well-loved and cosy property that offers a homely atmosphere and is praised for its excellent location. Guests appreciate the thoughtful welcome packs, though some have suggested improvements in comfort, particularly the beds. The property's cleanliness and quaint charm are frequently mentioned, and its proximity to local attractions and amenities makes it a desirable holiday rental.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage is generally described as clean, with guests noting it as 'really clean' and appreciating the 'amazing finishing touches from the cleaners'. However, one review mentioned cobwebs and dead flies, which slightly impacts the overall impression of cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for being central, close to beaches, towns, and attractions, with guests finding it ideal for exploring Cornwall. The proximity to local pubs and the quiet village setting are also appreciated.

While the cottage is often described as cosy and comfortable, several reviews point out that the beds are in need of replacement due to being 'soft, lumpy, and well past their best'. This suggests that the comfort level could be improved.

Facilities are generally good, with the cottage being well-equipped and homely. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as the need for a handrail on the stairs, hot water inconsistencies, and the need for better kitchen equipment and modernisation.

Guests frequently mention and appreciate the welcome packs, which include items like cream tea and Prosecco. It's important to note that while these gestures are well-received, such gifts are subject to availability and are not guaranteed for every stay.

The local pub was in walking distance with great food and welcoming locals. However, Brea Cottage needs some tlc urgently. The bathroom door is broken so could never be shut. The locks are failing on the doors resulting in us being unable to lock the back door for fear of it failing all together. The beds are very uncomfortable and the mattresses need replacing. I noticed a large orange manky piece of sponge laid on top on the double mattress! The tv remote is broken. I bought new batteries to try and it still wouldn’t work. The kitchen work surface is swollen with water as it hasn’t been sealed so smells damp. Brea Cottage has so much potential but it just needs a little work spending on it and some tlc. I would love to come and stay again, my back just needs a new mattress installing first!

Good base for exploring West (proper) Cornwall. Train to St Ives, walk to St Michael's Mount, Penzance, Hayle... Mount's Bay and St Ives' Bay; two wonders of the world. Cottage facilities good, clean and tidy. Dog happy, teenager happy, all good.

Although the property was lovely and in a fantastic location the main bedroom bed needs replacing.
