Guests say

Waterside Cottage is a well-loved holiday rental in Cornwall, praised for its idyllic setting by a tidal creek and its proximity to Padstow. Guests appreciate the clean, comfortable accommodations and the wildlife-rich surroundings. The cottage's charm, including a sun room and decking area, is frequently mentioned, although the spiral staircase presents a challenge for those with mobility issues. The property's tranquility and the ability to crab from the balcony are highlights for many visitors.

Most guests found the cottage to be clean and welcoming. There were a few mentions of areas that could have been cleaner, such as bathrooms and the presence of cobwebs, but these seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.

The location is highly praised for its beauty, tranquility, and convenience to local attractions and walks. The creek and wildlife add to the charm, making it a perfect spot for a peaceful holiday.

The cottage is generally considered comfortable and homely. Some guests found the mattresses hard and the spiral staircase challenging, but overall, the comfort level is high. The presence of a downstairs bedroom is appreciated by those with mobility issues.

Facilities are good, with a well-stocked kitchen and comfortable living areas. Some minor issues were reported, such as a toilet problem and difficulty with electric towel rails. The lack of storage space for food and the steep staircase were noted by some guests.

While some guests mentioned a welcome basket and found it to be a nice touch, there is not enough consistent information about thoughtfulness in terms of gifts or special touches to provide a score. It should be noted that such amenities are not guaranteed and may vary.

The cottage is in a beautiful spot, very quiet and peaceful. No shop nearby for morning paper! Took us a while to get the TV working, after contacting the owner he soon came and sorted it for us. All good at Waterside.

For example, I had to hoover the ground floor as there was sand in lounge and garden room, and muck on the floor in the kitchen. We also found the bathrooms to not be as clean as we would expect and it felt as if the cottage hadn’t had anyone in for sometime, due to cobwebs and several spiders in places. There is also considerable damp on the ground floor in the entrance way and bathroom and being the owner of an old property I know this happens but I feel this needs addressing. Generally the property felt quite used and unloved, which I am sure isn’t the case. But we had a wonderful time overall in Cornwall.

As non-smokers, we had not considered whether we could or could not smoke in the house. When we first opened the front, then inner door, stale smoke hit us. With all windows and doors open, it subsided. But each time we returned, same thing. The spiral staircase was a little alarming, as it creaked and seemed to wobble when on it. Overall, the house is peaceful and calm. The little road is well laid.out and the gentle rolling views work their magic. The terrace is perfect. With the creek whispering and the trees swaying quietly, we felt a long way from.our.daily routines and this is exactly what was needed. We could find plenty of hustle and bustle in eg Padstow, loving returning to our cottage for the space and tranquility it provided. Thank you all, very good value too!
