We have stayed in a lot of houses in Rock over the years and the fact that we left half way through our stay speaks volumes. We arrived to find that the central heating was turned OFF. It was 6 degrees outside. The house was freezing. The two floors where the bedrooms were located never got warm - it is a drafty, poorly maintained and low quality house with a lot of damp, cracked and cold areas. Additionally, the bedroom doors don’t close properly - the top floor (which thankfully we weren’t using) would have been a terrible experience for any poor children relegated up there. The kitchen cleanliness left a lot to be desired with a lot of the plates and cutlery having dried on old food still present. There was no coffee machine and the freezer was broken. It kept letting out shrill beeps through our stay. The keys in the back door were covered in rust like substance which had to be cleaned lest clothes get destroyed. The sofas and beds are uncomfortable and again needed maintenance / lower end of the quality scale. The garden (across the road) was out of action due to a damaged wall / high spring tide which looked very advantageous to the building site next door (note : both houses either side of 5 are being renovated during working hours). We checked the portal as instructed to complain but there are no links / numbers, hence just leaving early. Don’t let the photos fool you. Not a good example of a John Bray holiday let.

The house was generously proportioned with high ceilings and an elegant look and feel. It has also been thoughtfully decorated inside, in keeping with its original style and features. The large sitting room, with its bay window overlooking the bay, is a great place to spend time and spacious enough to accommodate quite a few people. Spending time in the front garden, watching the sunset in the evenings, was very enjoyable. We also really liked that there is plenty of parking to the rear of the property as it meant that we were never searching for parking spaces. What could make it even better? 1. Make more of the basement area as is a great place for teenagers to relax. We had to keep the door open whenever we were in there as there was an odour emanating from somewhere. 2. Make more of the rear garden as this is another lovely place to sit and enjoy some peace, whilst still having lovely views across the bay. 3. Make sure the barbecue gas cylinder has an adequate supply. We had to buy a new cylinder as the one there was empty. We managed to get the last one just in time for some friends coming round. We would have been a bit stuck had we not been able to get one! Overall, we were very happy. Thank you.
