About this property

Drifters is a contemporary, detached holiday home with splendid views overlooking the tidal waters of the Camel Estuary and the countryside beyond in Cornwall. Located just a stroll from Rock beach, its fine waterfront restaurants, and shops, as well as the many fantastic facilities and activities on offer on the North Cornwall coast, Drifters features ample parking, and a homely interior, possible to serve up to eight guests. With the main living areas set on the first floor, nothing can detract from the spectacular sea views. The sunny glass balcony is perfect for planning your day's adventures or enjoying a quiet moment with a coffee and the papers. After an exhilarating day, relax in the pretty rear garden and enjoy supper on the private terrace, or kick back in the generous, open-plan living area, which includes a well-equipped kitchen and dining space, and plush living room with a woodburning stove and a separate TV room. Three of the airy bedrooms are located on the ground floor including two en-suite double rooms, and a twin room, along with a family bathroom; the remaining twin bedroom is set on the first floor. Experience the best of Cornwall right from your doorstep; Drifters is conveniently located up the hill from the watersport hub at Rock, including the Rock Sailing Club, Water-ski Club and The Camel Ski School where you can practice sailing, paddle boarding, waterskiing, and kayaking on the sheltered waters of the Camel Estuary. Catch the foot ferry over to Padstow for Rick Stein's fish and chips on the harbour or take a leisurely cycle on the Camel Trail to the nearest picturesque town of Wadebridge. Walkers will adore the mile long stretch of beach that wraps around the coastline to Daymer Bay, a stunning sandy bathing beach ideal for younger children, whilst adrenalin junkies will want to head to nearby Polzeath, a blue flag beach and the surf capital of North Cornwall. All of this awaits with a stay at Drifters.

Rock is a desirable and much sought after coastal village located on the north eastern bank of the River Camel opposite the famous harbour town of Padstow which is easily reached by a regular ferry service. The summer home of royalty and celebrities offering top class restaurants and quality shops, the real draw is the array of watersports including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and angling. Continuing on a sporting theme, the golf course at nearby St Enodoc is considered to be one of the best in the country. With an abundance of world class beaches all within a short radius it is easy to see why Rock holds its popularity.

While otherwise well equipped and maintained, the utensils and kitchen equipment were poor quality eg microwave with a mechanical timer, plates from Wilko, Sainsburys, no coffee machine of any kind, oven that evidently did not work and / or lacked any instructions. Also noted the absence of a simple welcome pack (some tea, milk, biscuits etc ) which was the only time we found these lacking in many years of holiday lets. A short primted guide to the house and the owners requests would be more helpful than the many written notes taped to various walls through the house. These would not cost much to address and would be more in keeping with the rest of the house and its price point.

Dishwasher new but poor stacking arrangements and perhaps some of the bowls are not suitable.

It’s our second stay and it provides all our requirements. Great location and the house is well maintained. The outside sitting areas and garden are delightful.
