About this property

Woodcock House is the most exclusive property on the incredible Retallack Resort, close to the picturesque village of Winnard’s Perch and just six miles from one of Cornwall’s most popular resorts, Padstow. This grand and luxurious holiday home is impeccably furnished and beautifully decorated. It boasts six exceptional bedroom suites, all with their own colour schemes and each with the most luxurious beds and feather soft pillows. Woodcock House also enjoys its own generous private heated pool, the only house on the resort to offer a private pool. Other treats include a private sauna and Villeroy and Boch hot tub, a cinema room and access to the resort’s fantastic facilities.

The picture postcard town of Padstow is brimming with art galleries, the celebrated foodie restaurants of Rick Steins and Paul Ainsworths, gin bars, pubs and independent shops and boasts bobbing in the harbour, waiting to take visitors out to discover the magical coastline and its dolphin residents. The sensational beaches of Watergate, Harlyn, Treyarnon, Porth Cothan and Mawgan Porth are just a few miles away.

The prestigious Retallack Resort sits in one hundred acres of countryside with luxurious amenities and a fantastic array of activities for the whole family. Guests staying at Woodcock House enjoy complimentary membership to the Retallack Resorts Health Club where you can enjoy the beautiful indoor heated swimming pool and the gorgeous wellness area with its steam room and sauna. You can also indulge in luxurious Elemis treatments in the spa. Access is also given to the matrix gym and fitness classes though booking is required. The resort also boasts the most current watersports on offer including Surf the FlowRider. This ride offers the ultimate experience in bodyboarding and standup surfing. The resort’s AquaPark enjoys its own inland beach and a total wipeout adventure course with over fifty obstacles. You can fly from the pillow, scale the iceberg, balance the bridge and leap from the top of seriously high obstacles! Families enjoy wakeboarding on the cable-ski, paddleboarding and other watersports at the AquaPark. For a small fee you can check out the famous, well stocked coarse fishing lake on the resort. Retallack Resort is the perfect location for your furry friend too with beautiful countryside walks throughout the estate. There are also excellent cycle paths so you may want to take your cycles along.

Exquisite entertaining spaces await you at Woodcock House. The ground floor is home to an elegant dining area, a sumptuous living room filled with lavish furnishings and a fabulous, high specification, contemporary kitchen with a huge breakfast bar island. This opulent, open plan living space is very sociable and perfect for large group holidays. The chefs in your group will be delighted by the kitchen, a fantastic space to prepare delicious meals. Alternatively, you can pop out to the terrace and garden for a feast using the deluxe Green Egg barbecue. The living area enjoys a 50 inch television, plasma fire and a speaker system for your enjoyment. The smart dining area boasts sensational pool, lake and garden views as well as spectacular rope chandeliers over the table. Tucked behind this gorgeous space is a utility room with an American style fridge freezer with an ice machine and laundry utilities. The boot room offers wellies in all shapes and sizes. Woodcock House enjoys a further luxurious living room, a Netflix cinema room with a huge screen and squishy, contemporary sofas. Here you can enjoy family movie nights or just the beautiful views of the rolling countryside and the resort lake.  A cupboard is kitted out with baby friendly equipment including two travel cots, bath baths, changing mats and more to help with your holiday.

The six luxurious bedroom suites are spread over two floors and sleep twelve guests in fabulously comfortable beds, all dressed with luxurious Egyptian linens. You will discover stunning upholstered headboards offering each bedroom a delightful colour scheme of its own. The beds are set up as super-kings or twin beds. Each bathroom is immaculate with the very best of fittings. The master en-suite enjoys a wonderful jacuzzi bath, perfect for an indulgent soak with a glass of champagne. You will enjoy limestone, double walk-in showers and your personal luxurious dressing gowns.

The exterior space of Woodcock House is just as impressive as the interior. You can step outside to your enclosed astro-turf garden with stunning lake and farmland views. You can take the garden path down to the terrace to enjoy the poolside terrace, lounging on top notch sunbeds and enjoying your holiday read and the fluffy monogrammed towels. The hot tub will have been filled with the warmest of water awaiting your arrival and the sauna completes this luxurious picture. There is easy access to the downstairs cloakroom for changing. The alfresco dining area is beautiful, and like the pool, enjoys uninterrupted lake views. The upper front terrace offers a private Cornish stone walled garden, a gorgeous secluded spot to enjoy the countryside vistas.

If you can bear to leave Woodcock House with its brilliant treats and the wonders of the Retallack Resort, a Cornish paradise and the renowned Cornish surf awaits. Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth beaches are both within a 10 minute drive of home. The charming village of St Mawgan is situated four miles north of Newquay and 2 miles east of Mawgan Porth Beach. The thirteenth century St Mawgan Church is very pretty. Nestled in the wooded Lanherne Valley, the River Menalhyl runs through the village. The stunning and very tranquil Japanese Garden combines the beauty of nature with artistic refinement using shaping and styling of plants and natural elements. Mawgan Porth has a lovely sandy beach in a cove with a little stream running though which is great for the little ones. At low tide you can walk out to see the cliffs and rocks and enjoy all that fresh sea air. There are a number of cosy cafes and pubs across the road to enjoy as well as a wonderful art gallery.

Within minutes, guests can discover the delights of the very popular Padstow. Padstow is a charming working fishing port surrounded by glorious sandy beaches at the head of the Camel River. It is very much a foodie destination with Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant a popular choice. It is the start and end of the Camel Cycle Trail and a good base for watersports. Across the water is the wonderful town of Rock.

Newquay has been voted ‘One of the Nation’s Favourite Seaside Towns’ in the prestigious Which Holiday Survey and won Gold for ‘Best Seaside Towns for Families 2019’ by Days Out with the Kids. The beaches and surf are renowned and the tourist entertainment is phenomenal. It is home to some of the world’s best watersports competitions with the Boardmasters Festival and surfing championships held in the resort. There are some wonderful spas in Newquay for relaxation, not to mention the fantastic restaurants to choose from. Children will be happy with Newquay Zoo, Lappa Valley, Pirate’s Quest, Oasis Fun Pools and the Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre amongst plenty of other attractions.

For an incredible, one-off, experience you can take a personal flight experience from Newquay Cornwall Airport. Flyngy Pilot Training gives you the opportunity to see Cornwall from a different perspective. You will enjoy its unique coastlines, cliffs and beaches as well as its rural villages and towns. Depending on the duration of your flight, you could see Newquay, St Ives, Boscastle, Falmouth, Truro, Bodmin, Padstow, St Austell and even the Eden Project. When you are not taking photos, your pilot will hand you the controls of your two seater Cessna 152, three seater Robin DR400 or four seater Piper PA28. Of course you will have a full flight briefing. What an experience!

Garden lovers can enjoy the wonders of The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the beautiful Trerice Gardens. Throughout the year, the gardens hold excellent events, family activities and concerts. They are very special for days out.
