Just a short walk away, this quintessentially Cornish location was voted "Britain's Best Beach" by both the BBC's Coast programme and the Sunday Times travel supplement. Grab your beach gear, get a pasty from the village store and head down for a day on the glorious golden sands. Take the foot ferry over to The Fern Pit Cafe for a fresh crab sandwich, or get the adrenaline pumping at the Big Green Surf Machine surf school, where you can learn to ride the waves whatever your experience level. If you're up for a walk, discover Polly Joke Cove, a true hidden gem where you can do some seal spotting before heading off on a spectacular hike over The Kelseys to Holywell Bay. If you like photography, have a chat with Chris, the property owner, and he can show you how to take your images to a whole new level on one of his workshops. Or if you might be looking to buy, you can organise a private viewing of his work over a glass of wine in his gallery. A little further afield you can explore the vibrant town of Newquay, brimming with attractions including Newquay Zoo, home to over 130 species of incredible wildlife from exotic birds to remarkable reptiles. Immerse yourself in the world under the waves at the Blue Reef Aquarium, boasting a fascinatingly diverse array of hypnotic marine life. Take a leisurely stroll through Killacourt, a beautiful green space offering stunning views over Fistral Bay, the UK's premier surfing location. Or unwind in the calm setting of Trenance Gardens, a beautifully landscaped park with a boating lake, restaurant, horse stables and charming tearoom. Closer to home, for golf enthusiasts there's the new Halwyn Driving Range just a big 3 Wood and a good 7 Iron away. Finally for foodies who love great food with a fantastic view, there's C-Bay Bistro just up the road.The balcony there is the perfect place to watch a summer sunset with a cocktail in hand. Crantock is a small Cornish village, just a short walk from the beach, close to the popular resort of Newquay. If you want to escape the crowds, yet still be close to the action, this is the place to be. There's stunning countryside all around and lots of pretty villages to explore; however, it is the coast that dominates. Enjoy superb walks along the coastal path over dramatic cliff-tops, or magnificent surfing on beaches stretching from Watergate Bay in the North to Fistral beach in the centre of Newquay and on down the coast. There are a number of golf courses in the area, as well as National Trust properties, traditional pubs and outstanding restaurants. Newquay itself is a visitor's paradise with a wide variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, plus attractions such as the Sea Life Centre, Newquay Zoo and nearby Dairyland and Eden Project.
