Guests say

Cousham Cottage in Cawsand, Cornwall, is highly praised for its charm, comfort, and prime location close to beaches and local amenities. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, dog-friendly policy, and the property's cleanliness, although a few minor maintenance issues are noted. The cottage's character and thoughtful touches, such as welcome gifts, contribute to its warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a favourite for many repeat visitors.

The cottage generally receives high marks for cleanliness, with many guests describing it as spotless and well-kept. However, there are a few instances where guests noted room for improvement, such as a not completely clean bathroom and issues with cleanliness upon arrival in subsequent years.

The location is consistently lauded for its proximity to the beach, local pubs, and scenic walks. The convenience of being in the heart of the village while also offering easy access to nearby attractions like Plymouth via ferry is highly valued by guests.

Guests find the cottage comfortable and cosy, with a well-furnished and decorated interior that makes them feel at home. Some guests mention the need for caution with the spiral staircase and low beams, but overall, the comfort level is rated highly.

The cottage is praised for being well-equipped and having modernised facilities, such as a fabulous shower and effective dishwasher. However, there are comments about minor maintenance issues like chipped mugs, a problematic kitchen tap, and a broken curtain pole, which slightly affect the score.

While guests often mention thoughtful touches like welcome flowers, tea trays, and the provision of wine and milk, there is not enough information to determine if these are consistent offerings or if they are guaranteed for every stay. Therefore, the score is set to null.

About this property

In Cawsand, a stone’s throw from the beach, a 17th cent., Grade II listed cottage over two floors, its interesting past hinted at by the smugglers’ tunnel cleverly disguised in an under-stair cupboard. Once also the village sweet shop, it nestles alongside sister cottages on a narrow lane behind the square with just occasional vehicles passing. Just right for a couple or small family. Inside, good-sized rooms, original beams and some low lintels. From the lane, 3 steps up to tiled lobby and bathroom; stable doors and step up to living/dining room with wood burning stove, and a smart cottage-style kitchen with slate floor and granite worktops; rear hall (space for beach gear/walking boots/children’s board games) and shower-room.

Steep narrow stairs with 5’2” beam and, rope rail wind up to the first floor landing where a smuggler’s tunnel cupboard and door to garden can be found and two bedrooms – a king-size double , and a twin. Behind, sheltered by a high wall and with a peek of the sea between rooftops, an enclosed suntrap paved terrace with decked area, table and chairs. A welcoming cottage in a friendly seaside village just 50 yards from pub and shop.

The twin villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, with narrow streets winding between pastel-coloured cottages, lie on the Rame Peninsula just 5 miles from Plymouth

We’ve been visiting the area on and off for over 25 years and stayed in lots of different places and Cousham Cottage has to be one of the nicest ones. It was comfortable, close to everything, dog friendly and clean and tidy. Thank you for a lovely week,

A real home from home. Spotless as usual. Everything we needed was there. Just can't find fault!

We felt at home straight away. Compliments to the cleaners, the cottage was spotless. Corsham is fitted out to a very high standard with excellent kitchen and bathrooms. We shall definitely book another stay.
