Upton Cross is a small Cornish village originally housing miners but now a quiet retreat set in rolling countryside on the edge of Bodmin Moor. From here there is easy access to some of Bodmin Moor’s most striking features, including the Cheesewrings, Sharp Tor and the engine houses at Minions, as well as Kitt Hill and Caradon Hill. The village has a traditional 17th century pub serving good food and a Post Office. Both coasts are within easy reach, from the crashing surf of the north coast to the clear waters and fishing villages of the south. Siblyback Lake, 6 miles away, offers angling and water sports, and there is salmon and trout fishing available on local rivers. Has fantastic views. Extremely large space but could do with personalising- cushions, rugs as can be chilly at night and perhaps some books, DVDs on shelves. Nice clean bathrooms but kitchen a bit of a nightmare!

We were offered to stay at Wheal Tor Cottage instead, despite there being no downstairs bedroom for our disabled mum/mum in law, we accepted and stayed here instead. Beautiful cottage with absolutely stunning views over Dartmoor, and despite the initial problems we very much enjoyed our stay here.

Has sweeping views of the valley from the living room. Had all the amenities of home including bread, milk and wine ! Thanks for a lovely stay.
