About this property

Situated in the quaint village of Liskeard, Cornwall is this lovely, white-washed single-storey barn conversion, No 1. Displaying original features throughout, this cottage includes exposed stone walls and a suitably large garden, whilst well positioned to explore Cornwall and its array of amenities, attractions and walking trails, the cottage welcomes two guests: ideal for a couple or pairing of friends. Rustle up your favourite meals in the kitchen before heading to the dining/living room to relax in front of the Smart TV, ideal for a snug film night. If you prefer to spend your time outdoors, benefit from an enclosed front garden with patio and table and chairs, a tranquil spot to enjoy your breakfast or a late-night tipple. Further into the property, be impressed by well-appointed king-size bedroom, along with a sizeable bathroom. Beyond your new home away from home, you will discover the charming town of Liskeard, boasting an abundance of attractions and activities, as well as an array of cafes, pubs and restaurants to try. Start your day by adventuring to Adrenalin Quarry, a unique outdoor playground for adults and children, in and around a flooded quarry; if you’re seeking something more peaceful however, discover South Phoenix Mine or Golitha Falls where you can admire the spectacular cascades and waterfalls along a section of the River Fowey. Immerse yourself in the local myths by taking a day trip to the Cheesewring, a series of stone arrangements legend tells was created by a competition between the giant, Uther and Saint Tue. Further afield, Torpoint showcases Wacker Quay and Tregantle Fort, both local gems for hiking enthusiasts and perfect to enjoy a picnic whilst basking in the surrounding landscapes and views of the ocean. Alternatively, you may wish to visit Fowey Aquarium to learn about the fish, shellfish and sea life from around the Cornish Coast; or sink your feet into the sandy trails and explore the rockpools of Readmoney Cove. Treat your loved one to a memorable break to No 1.

A moorland village called Pensilva has roots in Cornwall's tin mining past. This area of the Bodmin Moor is noted for its craggy Cheesewring Quarry, from which granite was used to construct Plymouth's Devonport Dockyard, and the lonely settlement of Minions, which is the location of the renowned Hurlers stone circles. There are beautiful hikes to Rough Tor and Brown Willy further west. The neighbouring Siblyback Reservoir, which is a great place for fishing and offers a variety of watersports. The market town of Liskeard is nearby, as are other well-known coastal scenic places like Polperro and Fowey, as well as the well-known fishing port of Looe on the south Cornwall coast, which is just 14 miles away.

Everything we needed was there, including the private car park. The owner arrived only minutes after we arrived to welcome us and provided additional local information. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this cottage and will return for another visit.

The whole cottage was spotlessly clean and the off road parking was a bonus as on both our previous holidays in Devon/Cornwall the lack of access/parking was problimatical. If you are looking for a secluded getaway place, then, this is the cottage for you.

Plenty of room for two, very comfortable and clean. Annette, the owner is a charming lady and extremely helpful. The next time we want a secluded break which is also close to several National Trust properties we will most definitely consider Woodview.
