5 Southern Place is an elegant countryside lodge set within a quiet, unspoilt corner of Cornwall, perfectly placed between the coastal charm of Looe and Polperro and the wild openness of Bodmin Moor. Designed for those who value space, privacy and a slower pace of living, it offers a generous and well-appointed base for everything from restorative breaks to memory-making stays with family and friends. Arriving at the lodge, there is an immediate sense of calm, the setting is natural and unhurried, with tall trees, windswept wildflowers and the soft sound of a nearby stream creating a sense of place that is hard to leave behind.
The lodge sits unoverlooked within its surroundings, giving the whole stay a feeling of genuine privacy. Gentle trails lead directly from the front door, and a friendly onsite team is on hand during your stay. Step inside, and the sense of openness continues. The living space invites you to settle in and stay awhile, an L-shaped sofa in soft blue hues, a woodburning stove casting quiet warmth on cooler evenings, and a well-appointed kitchen with sleek grey fixtures where mornings begin with freshly brewed coffee and evenings can unfold over unhurried meals. The dining area becomes a natural place for the group to reconnect, and on quieter evenings, a film after dinner can be equally enjoyed.
The three bedrooms are calm and considered, each dressed in hotel-quality linens, with bathrooms finished with fluffy towels and thoughtful toiletries. Outside, the decking extends your living space into the open air, where far-reaching views create a changing backdrop from first light to dusk. Evenings are best spent in the hot tub, watching the sky deepen and the stars emerge, step out wrapped in one of the boutique bathrobes provided and let the warmth of the water and the quiet of the night air do the rest. The stillness that surrounds the lodge feels rare and restorative. When the evening calls for something a little more social, the Old Mill Bar and Restaurant at nearby Stonerush Lakes delivers, wood-fired pizzas, handcrafted cocktails and tables that look out over the water make it a natural choice for the group.
From the doorstep, Cornwall opens up in every direction. Looe, Polperro and Fowey reward leisurely exploration along the south coast, while Bodmin Moor, Cardinham Woods and the lakeside paths at Siblyback offer a different pace inland. Cornwall's north coast, Padstow, Port Isaac, Newquay and Polzeath, is easily reached via a short drive, as is Plymouth for a city day out. Beaches range from the sheltered coves at Talland Bay and Readymoney Cove to the surf breaks further north, with stretches of the South West Coast Path connecting much of it on foot. For a memorable family day out, the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Carnglaze Caverns, Porfell Wildlife Park and Adrenaline Quarry all sit within easy reach, alongside boat trips and sea safaris departing from Looe.

Can park within a few feet of the entrance door. The lodge is very comfortable and loved the modern look and feel. On a warm day it was great to open both the bi-fold doors onto the large deck. The hot tub is superb. The site is so close to explore the Cornish coast, Bodmin Moor etc Great customer service from Sykes and Tracey the on-site guest services administrator.

We had a lovely stay at this lodge. Extremely clean and comfortable. The Lodge was well equipped. Side plates were exceptionally small, more like a cake plate. Make sure you take your own plastic glasses to use, when in the spa. We had a couple of small issue, that were dealt with straight away after a lady (canât remember her name) called to check how things were going, she was awesome and couldnât have been more helpful. Also a big thank you to Anita from housekeeping! We were expecting to have a TV in the super king room but sadly there wasnât one. None of this spoilt our holiday. We would happily recommend this beautiful lodge and hope to return again sometime in the not too distant future.

We had a fantastic weekend in this lodge. We had gone away to relax and distress and we have definitely done that. It was extremely comfortable and full of everything that we could possibly have needed. Every room was clean and well presented and the beds were really comfortable which is always a bonus. Set in well maintained grounds, the lodge feels very private and the hot tub was the cherry on top at the end of the day. We highly recommend this lodge to anybody looking for a bit of peace and tranquility in their lives.
