The village's charm and friendly residents add to the positive experience, although some minor maintenance issues are noted.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Guests frequently commend the cottage for its cleanliness, with multiple reviews highlighting the property's tidiness. There is a single mention of a 'slightly grubby cutlery tray and black tile mould', but this appears to be an isolated comment amidst overall positive feedback.

The location is well-regarded for its proximity to attractions and ease of access to the A30, making it a good base for exploring Cornwall. The village's charm is noted, though one review mentions the need for a car for evening dining out.

Comfort is a strong point for the cottage, with guests finding the beds and sofas comfortable and the cottage cosy, especially during a storm. The peaceful environment contributes to the comfort level.

Facilities are generally praised, including the well-stocked kitchen and washer/dryer. However, there are comments about a rattly microwave and a desire for hotter water, suggesting some room for improvement in maintenance.

The thoughtfulness of the hosts is frequently mentioned, with guests appreciating the welcome treats for both humans and dogs, though it's important to note that such gifts, while delightful, are not guaranteed.

About this property

This is a charming one-bedroom, stone-built end terrace, converted barn in the village of Polyphant near Launceston in Cornwall. It has a modern yet traditional country feel, ideally suited for a couple who want to get away on a nice romantic break full of relaxation in this peaceful village. As you enter this lovely cottage you will find an open-plan living area with a contemporary-style kitchen, dining and sitting area with a beautiful, cosy woodburning stove at the heart of the home. Adding to its charming old-time characteristics is the stable-style front door, beamed ceilings and exposed stone wall features in the bedroom. Outside is a beautiful, quaint garden with a gravel patio. Why not sit and relax on the comfy chairs with a couple of drinks and nibbles while the sun sets for the evening? Or snuggle up on the sofa in colder months and enjoy the glow of the lit wood fire. The beautiful village green and local shop are only a couple of minutes’ walk away, perfect for a morning stroll. Polyphant is the perfect base to explore Cornwall and Devon and is ideally situated within driving distance from the north and south coast. Bodmin and Dartmoor are also within easy reach, and places like the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are within 45 minutes so you won't be stuck for things to do and places to visit. The beautiful chocolate-box seaside towns of Bude and Padstow are definitely worth a visit. This delightful accommodation for two is the perfect base for exploring with a loved one.

The town of Launceston, situated on the Devon and Cornwall border, has wonderful architecture, including some fine Georgian buildings in the central square, and is dominated by the ruins of a Norman castle sitting high above the town. Visit the Tamar Otter Park just 3 miles away or take a trip on the steam train from Launceston through Kensey Valley on a 5-mile round trip. Launceston is within driving distance of the seaside resorts of Bude and Padstow to the north, and Plymouth to the south, as well as the stunning Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor.

This was our second stay here and we’re very likely to return.

Lovely little cottage, very difficult to walk your dog because the roads around were very busy and I think you would definitely need to have a car to get anywhere that was safe enough to do so

  • Peter

It was a lovely cottage and the dog treats, bowl and towel were a nice touch. We hope to come back again soon
