Trekenner Barn provides the perfect setting for those who seek a relaxing retreat in the Cornwall countryside, just five miles west of the historic town of Launceston it is ideally placed for those wanting to visit both moors and coast.

Your nearest sandy beach is at Crackington Haven, 9 miles away, or for surf and more typical seaside fun you could try Bude, also nearby. This lovely, characterful barn, once part of a former farmstead has now been converted into smart accommodation. Inside is light and airy with exposed wooden beams and pretty fabrics. Step into the bright open living space: to one end is a smart kitchen with dining area and to the other a cosy living room with electric woodburner style fire and a glass door to the garden. Stairs lead to two first floor bedrooms – a double with lovely long views over the surrounding fields, and a small single. There is also a modern shower room suite on this floor. Outside is a very pretty garden with an ornamental wildlife pond and a large, decked area, perfect for sitting and enjoying the peace. When the weather is warm and the sun is shining, spend the evening outdoors where you can light up the barbecue and enjoy a spot of al fresco dining; a little later, on a clear night, have a magnificent view of the stars.

Nearby are several course fisheries, two golf courses, and the delightful Cowslip workshops offering monthly craft and patchwork classes as well as a shop and cafe.

Alternatively, find miles of superb walking routes upon Bodmin Moor or Dartmoor. Explore all the delights of Cornwall and the North Devon area, with fabulous beaches, historic sites and wonderful opportunities for walking and cycling. Head to the inviting town of Launceston and find the ruins of a 13th-century Norman castle, fine Georgian buildings and numerous places to dine out, or hop on to the Steam Railway offering a 5-mile round trip on the North Cornwall line. Bude also offers plenty of restaurants, gift shops and a Heritage Centre at Bude Castle. Visit Port Isaac and Trebarwith Strand as well as other lovely villages and beaches. The chocolate-box town of Padstow is also worth a visit, as is Plymouth, The Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, each offering different days out to be enjoyed by all. This is a superb base for a getaway to this part of Cornwall.

The pretty village of Egloskerry sits 4 miles west of Launceston, quietly resting amongst the beautiful green meadows of the upper Tamar Valley. An ideal place for those seeking the solitude of the countryside, this whole area offers an abundance of winding country lanes, wooded valleys and great wildlife spotting opportunities.
