About this property

A lovely couple’s retreat on the southern coast of Cornwall, Fowey Loft is found right in the heart of this pretty town. Very cosy inside, this property enjoys a great rooftop view over Fowey harbour.

The comfortable living area is equipped with skylights, allowing plenty of natural light to flood in. This nautically themed space offers a sofa, coffee table and armchairs, just a few steps away from the dining area that’s perfect for a romantic dinner – you can even light the space to suit the mood.

Lots of plants and intriguing pieces of art and décor all add to the homely feel of Fowey Loft. Your kitchen forms part of the same space, with an oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and all the essential items. You also have a large, widescreen TV in the lounge area, and free Wi-Fi too. Featuring a king-size bed dressed in White Company linens and a wall-mounted TV, the inviting bedroom is complemented by a stylish bathroom with bathtub and overhead shower.

Fowey has all you need to enjoy a relaxed break in the West Country, with its lovely riverside and a jumble of little streets lined with independent shops and great places to eat – Fowey’s food scene is well worth checking out. Annual highlights include May’s Festival of Words and Music and August’s Fowey Royal Regatta.

Well located for the Eden Project, around 15 minutes’ drive away, the town is also within reach of St Austell, Mevagissey, Bodmin Moor and many other Cornish landmarks. Delightful beaches like Readymoney Cove and Polridmouth Cove are just a few minutes’ drive from the town.

The harbour town of Fowey is surrounded by a number of villages on the pretty Fowey Estuary in South Cornwall. This chilled out town is good for a weekend getaway, or as the base for a longer stay in the county, with attractions such as the Eden Project within a short drive.

You can potter around the narrow streets which occupy the area down by the harbour, enjoying the independent shops and cafés which can be found alongside a few familiar names. The town’s food scene runs all the way from pasties and ice cream to fine dining, and the menus make good use of local produce. There are excellent bakeries and delis too, with the likes of the Quay Bakery and Kittows worth seeking out.

A ferry service can take you and your car across the river from Fowey, which will save considerable time if you wanted to head over to Lantic Bay, Lansallos Beach or anywhere east of Polperro. In less than 30 minutes you can drive to Porfell Wildlife Park and in around 15 minutes to the Eden Project. It’s also possible to reach Jamaica Inn on Bodmin Moor in just over half an hour.

Elsewhere around the county, other highlights include the Lost Gardens of Heligan, also around 30 minutes from Fowey, which are a fantastic sight. Located near Mevagissey, the gardens cover 200 acres and include areas known as the Productive Gardens, Pleasure Grounds and Jungle, a tropical garden complete with a 100 foot-high Burmese rope bridge – crossing it is quite an experience.

There’s fun for kids at the Flambards Theme Park near Helston, and at the Camel Creek Adventure Park not far from Padstow. Both offer lots of outdoor rides and play activities, with Flambards adding its Victorian and wartime exhibits into the mix. For something more peaceful, there’s the Japanese Garden at St Mawgan near Newquay – while it’s on the opposite coast, you can reach this popular surfing spot in about 45 minutes.

Head to the west of the county and you can really get to know its iconic sights. There’s mainland Britain’s most southerly point, The Lizard, and the famous Land’s End, as well as cultural gems like Porthcurno’s Minack Theatre – not just any old theatre as this one’s in the open-air and enjoys a stunning coastal backdrop.

In just over one hour you can discover the art treasures of Penzance and St Ives, home of the Tate gallery. This ever-popular town also boasts some gorgeous beaches. In Penzance you can also experience the UK’s largest outdoor lido, the relaxing Jubilee Pool.

We were very happy with our 5 night stay in Fowey Loft. Lovely comfy apartment hidden away in a very central location in Fowey. It was cosy and warm and great for chilling out with all we needed for making breakfast etc. Loved the decor! Note there are no bigger supermarkets in walking distance but a local shop across the road which had all the essentials.
