Pensilva is a village on some moorland that has its roots in Cornwall's tin mining past. Famous sites in this area of Bodmin Moor include the isolated settlement of Minions, site of the enigmatic Hurlers stone circles, and the craggy Cheesewring Quarry, from which granite was extracted to construct Plymouth's Devonport Dockyard. Walking trails to Rough Tor and Brown Willy can be found further west. Siblyback Reservoir is a great place to fish and enjoy a variety of water activities. Close by are the market town of Liskeard, the fishing port of Looe on the south Cornwall coast (about 14 miles away), and the coastal beauty spots of Polperro and Fowey.
