About this property

This South Mundham holiday cottage on a Sussex working farm has all the quirks of a traditional barn conversion, and is in one of the most rural parts of Sussex

Enjoy the drive along beautiful and quiet rural lanes to the Fisher Dairy, a clever conversion of a single storey barn on a working beef farm. The farm is surrounded by open farmland just a couple of miles to the north of Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve offering great walks and cycling along the lanes, bridleways and footpaths of this delightful area.

Located next to the owners’ own converted barn it offers modern and comfortable accommodation in a traditional building. With underfloor heating throughout and a woodburning stove it is a cosy proposition. There are two bedrooms one fitted with a super king sized bed and the other a king sized bed. Both beds are zip linked however so can be configured as twin bedrooms if need be. There is the one bathroom which is fitted with a shower bath.

The kitchen which combines with the living space is comprehensively equipped and the large farmhouse table makes a great space for families. Behind the Dairy there is a small garden that looks directly onto the farm.

South Mundham and beyond

South Mundham is just a small hamlet amongst the most glorious open farmland. However its location is certainly not remote since The Fisher Dairy is perfect for both Chichester and the Goodwood events being just two and a half miles outside the city centre. Located due south of Chichester, it is barely two miles across open fields to Pagham Harbour and is also close to Chichester Harbour.

This part of the coastline is a haven for unusual birds and wildlife with Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve and Chichester Harbour both being areas of outstanding natural beauty. The walk south to Pagham offers wonderful countryside views and much tranquility.

Pagham Harbour is an internationally important site for nature conservation while Chichester Harbour also combines its wildlife attractions with sailing centres such as Itchenor, Bosham, and Dell Quay. Between these harbours there are beaches at Selsey and the Witterings, the latter offering unrivalled views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight.

Chichester the cathedral city of Sussex has played a key role in the affairs of Sussex since at least Roman times. The city has broad streets that are packed with listed buildings headed by the towering presence of the cathedral.

The city centre is neatly enclosed within the ancient city walls, which helps to make Chichester compact and pleasant to explore on foot. It is a cosmopolitan, vibrant and friendly city proudly combining two thousand years of heritage with a lively lifestyle. A trip to the Chichester Festival Theatre close to the centre is worth considering since it is famous for the quality of theatre production, many of which premiere here before moving on to the London theatre scene. For the film buff the cinema complex and nearby restaurants to the south of the city also make for an enjoyable evening out.

A super holiday let, in lovely surroundings, well equipped and very comfortable. Very attractively appointed, we would definitely return!

Fisher Dairy is in a beautiful, peaceful rural location, amazingly convenient being just 10 minutes drive from the centre of Chichester. Some great walks starting literally on the door-step, with the coast being only 3 miles away, but waterproof footwear is adviseable for some of the fields! An ideal property for young children with an enclosed garden at the rear. As described, this is a working farm in the countryside, so the animals and occasional tractors are all part of the charm, along with the option of fresh eggs every morning. A really enjoyable break.
