This attractive, detached former stables, adjacent to the owner’s large house, has been carefully converted to provide a comfortable and welcoming holiday home, suitable for couples or families. It is an ‘upside down’ style house, with the living/dining room and kitchen on the first floor, where high ceilings and plenty of windows give a light, airy, and spacious feel, and there are lovely views over fields to the rear and Arundel Castle in the distance. The ground floor comprises of two en-suite bedrooms. There are lovely shared gardens to meander around, extending to nearly 2 acres of lawns, with vegetable patches, seating areas and a small pond.
This area is a great touring and sightseeing base, it is close to historic Arundel with its castle, cathedral, wild fowl and wetlands, restaurants, pubs, inns, book shops, antique shops and cafes. The South Downs National Park, Chichester cathedral, Goodwood House and Races (Festival of Speed and The Revival), Fontwell horse racing, and the beaches of Littlehampton and Worthing are all close by, while the sandy beach at West Wittering is approximately ½ hours’ drive.
National Trust homes and gardens such as West Dean, Nymans, Woolbeding, Parham Park, Petworth House and Gardens, Midhurst with polo matches at Cowdray, are all within easy driving distance, as are the cosmopolitan cities of Brighton to the east and Portsmouth to the west. Beach 3 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 300 yards.

Beautiful location, lovely gardens, very spacious accommodation.Call ahead a couple of days before the holiday to get the key code. Stable Cottage is easy to find by following the directions but definitely slow down or you'll miss the driveway. There is a fairly prominent B&B sign with a white background at the entrance that is easier to see than the Stable Cottage one. Parking is tight, we only have a small car and it didn't obstruct the driveway at all but something larger would have to be parked a bit more thoughtfully and I'm not sure how 2 cars would fit in. The property is simply gorgeous and very large! Directly in from the front door is a bathroom, to the left is the main double bedroom. To the right are stairs leading to the first floor with a hallway beside them. Off this hallway is a corridor leading to a very spacious twin bedroom. Also off the corridor is a door leading to a large built in cupboard and another to a wet room. The main stairs lead into the dining area with a table, 4 chairs, games, jigsaws and a window with a distant view of one Arundel Castle tower. A small pair of binoculars were left on the windowsill to better see it. Lovely immediate view out the back of a grassy field used by dog walkers, rabbits and other wildlife. It makes you feel you're in the middle of the countryside. The railway line passes close by but there is very little noise. Beyond the dining area is a spacious lounge and there is a big kitchen/breakfast room the other side of the stairs. There are antiques everywhere! It's a stunning, big, beautiful space and we loved it.
