Follow the route to Leeds Castle (3 miles) to uncover the area’s history as you wander through the castle grounds and woodland. Further afield, Maidstone (4.5 miles) is Kent’s largest town and offers a good choice of shops, restaurants, and pubs, as well as attractions including Mote Park, Maidstone Museum, and the Hazlitt Theatre. More local history awaits in Canterbury (25 miles), which is famous for its cathedral, gardens, and abbeys. Days on the coast are also possible, with popular seaside locations including the Isle of Sheppey, Whitstable, and Herne Bay (all within 30 miles).
