Whitstable is a delightful seaside town that offers plenty of activities for families. The town has a wealth of independent shops and a fine selection of restaurants, cafes and pubs, all within 500m of the cottage. Enjoy the beach and coastal walks as well as a variety of water sports including windsurfing, kite surfing and sailing. Why not take a bike ride along the seafront, the Oyster Bay Trail takes you along the coast to Herne Bay (5.5 miles) and finishes in Reculver, a former Roman settlement, or follow the Crab and Winkle Way to the city of Canterbury (7 miles), which is home to the country s oldest cathedral and the Marlow theatre, the perfect place to enjoy some history and culture.
