Snaptrip says

The Coast Guard House in Herne Bay is highly praised for its stunning views, spacious and comfortable accommodation, and direct beach access. Guests enjoyed the local area and the property's hot tub, though there were minor concerns about maintenance and the adequacy of showers for large groups.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Guests consistently described the property as very clean, indicating high standards of cleanliness throughout their stay.

The property's location is lauded for its easy beach access, lovely views, and proximity to local towns, making it an ideal spot for guests.

The reviews suggest a high level of comfort, with spacious bedrooms and a cosy atmosphere, although one review mentioned a bunk bed room being an exception.

Facilities are generally well-received, especially the hot tub. However, concerns about the number of showers for a large group and a leak in the kitchen indicate some areas for improvement.

While guests appreciated the property and its amenities, there is no mention of gifts or special touches from the owners that would indicate thoughtfulness. Therefore, this score cannot be provided.

About this property

Nestled in Swalecliffe, Kent and close to amenities, Coast Guard House is an impressive, spacious property for a family holiday by the sea. The house boasts five bedrooms, one of which lies on the ground-floor near to a ground-floor bathroom, making Coast Guard House ideal for a multi-generational family. At the front of the house, you will find off-road parking and an enclosed lawn and patio, before entering the house and stepping into the bright and airy sitting/dining room with spectacular views of the coast; make yourself comfortable on the sofas, turn on the woodburning stove and treat yourself to a family film night. The kitchen is large and perfect for preparing your family's favourite meal, with plenty of room for cooking together. The first bedroom sits on the ground-floor and contains a double bed and has access to an enclosed, rear decking area. There is also a ground-floor bathroom with a roll top bath for a well-earned soak after a day by the sea. Heading upstairs to unpack and settle in, there are four more bedrooms; three double rooms, one of which is the master room with spectacular sea views, and one twin room. There is also a family shower room; pop your towel on the heated towel rail and let it get toasty whilst you enjoy the fabulous walk-in shower. Make use of the front patio on warm summer evenings by dining alfresco and taking in the sea views. Situated in Swalecliffe, you will be close by to plenty of amenities, such as shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés for dining out and wandering around a lovely little suburb. Whitstable is just a short drive west and another wonderful seaside suburb, where you can wander along Whistable harbour, try the fresh seafood and spend the day at the beach, or follow the Crab and Winkle Way for a long walk taking you all the way to Canterbury. For a bustling seaside town full of history and culture, head east to Margate for a family day out visiting sandy beaches, Dreamland, an iconic amusement park featuring the UK's oldest wooden rollercoaster, Margate Caves or the Turner Contemporary gallery. Of course, there are plenty of fish and chip shops and seafood stalls to try. Canterbury sits just south of Coast Guard House and is a quaint little city with a spectacular cathedral and cathedral gates; catch a performance at the Marlowe Theatre, explore Westgate Gardens or take an interactive tour of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. With beautiful coastlines and historical towns, Coast Guard House is a fantastic base to house the whole family for a memorable get together.

Between Whitstable and Herne Bay on the north coast of Kent sits Swalecliffe, a small suburb dating back to the Norman times with sketches of a local church, which no longer remains. Today, you will find great pubs, restaurants and bars, a beach, the Long Rock Nature Reserve, a local train station, post office and, of course, a fish and chip shop. With excellent facilities and amenities, Swalecliffe is a great base for catching the best of Kent's stunning coast.

We were upgraded to this house when our original one fell through the day before our stay due to technical issues - Sykes and Owner Wendy on the ball and sorted everything out - Thank You Wendy was extremely helpful when we couldn't work the tele - nothing was too much trouble! House is comfortable, warm and homely - enclosed garden perfect for the dogs. Everything you would need in the kitchen - Shower great too! Walk straight out onto the beach which is lovely whatever the weather. A Truely perfect stay and would certainly go back Great Find!!!

When it rained on our last evening there The kitchen ceiling sprang a couple of leaks in the corner on the right hand side just as you enter the kitchen from the hallway, so maybe needs looking at before it gets worse, also caravan two doors down caught fire on new years evening and we hosted the families that it affected by helping them over the fences and into us until the fire brigade got it under control, very scary at the time as the wind was very strong and causing the fire to spread very fast in the direction away from us but had the wind been in our direction the danger would have been far worse especially with the caravan sight behind us So we assume the fire damage will be a bit of an eyesore for anyone due to stay there soon Our new year went a bit different to plan but it was one we definitely won’t forget for a long time, we had intended to see the new year in in the hot tub but missed out on that one for obvious reasons And then the wind refused to drop over our last two days there the time my husband and l had set aside for just the two of us having some alone time and use of the hot tub having packed our children and grandchildren off home just didn’t pan out but never mind it was still a great break away
