It resides within the owner’s 8-acre grounds and small holding, including a vineyard which guests are free to enjoy. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty provides access to footpaths and cycle routes, enabling you to explore the glorious, rural surroundings and enjoy horse riding and golf nearby. There is a local company from where you can hire electric bikes. Fig Cottage is ideally located for exploring Canterbury, just 9 miles away, where the skyline is dominated by its historic cathedral and is the oldest in England. For a day at the coast, towns such as Whitstable famous for its oysters, Hythe’s pebble beach, and Sandgate with interesting antique shops, are all well worth a visit. There is easy access to the Eurostar and the Channel Tunnel for those looking for something further afield in France, so don’t forget to bring your passport! Something closer to home is the local pub, where it not only feeds the family after a day’s exploring, it also provides a venue for craft fairs and farmers’ markets, and won an award for ’Kent pub of the year’ in the Kent life awards. We had a wonderful time at Fig Cottage. It was much better than we expected. The house and the surroundings are beautiful and the hosts are very friendly and helpful.

We had a wonderful stay at Fig Cottage. The cottage itself was beautifully appointed and had excellent facilities which included a well-designed little kitchen which included all the appliances, pans and tools you would ever require and a Weber gas BBQ on the patio.The bed was very comfortable although we did have our own pillows because we know we prefer a firmer one than most places have.The location is picture perfect, looking out on the vineyard with the countryside as your soundtrack was perfect. It was lovely to take a walk around the vineyard as the sun set, truly a wonderful experience.Hester the host could not have been more accommodating, she was very helpful and full of great advice on how to make the best of our break.The two resident dogs were so friendly – even as cat people they made our stay even better.The local pub which is a 5 minute walk away does fantastic gastro pub food and is highly recommended – however, I would book in advance.

We really enjoyed our short stay in Fig Cottage, its in an excellent location, has a great atmosphere, and provides all you need to enjoy your time away. Would highly recommend and looking forward to another visit! Thanks!
