Solent Cottage is set in the coastal town of Yarmouth just a few hundred yards from the sea. This smart holiday home is Grade ll listed dating back to the 1700s. The town, famed for it sailing and fishing history, still retains its olde worlde charm, with cobbled lanes, inns, restaurants, shops, church, promenade and pier. The island has a good bus network and numerous walking and cycling routes and tourist parking permits can be purchased using PayByPhone from the council. Guests can walk from the ferry terminus to the property. Shop and pub 200 yards.

Couple of things I was a little disappointed with.. parking is a pain! £70 parking for the week! On the main harbour carpark 6 minutes walk away! If that price would have been added to the overall cost of the cottage and there was a parking permit meaning you could park on the roads near the cottage that would be much better.. No loo on the first floor one at the bottom Of the stairs not great if you need the loo in the night! The bathroom on the top floor was lovely with huge tub and loo but tricky steep stairs with a rope banister ! So double and single bedrooms on first floor has to go up or down depending on ability! The downstairs loo has a chiffon curtain which is see through so anyone in the patio area can watch you on the loo! It just needs a blind .. and my other bugbear was absolutely not a thing in the cupboard! You need to take salt pepper etc! I’ve stayed in a lot of cottage’s and these things are usually pretty standard! Not even dishwasher tablets!! I understand some places don’t offer a welcome basket but not even have salt and pepperOr even a couple of t bags and a pint of milk for a cuppa when you arrive. But we live and learn! The cottage is very nice but pack everything including salt and pepper!!

A lovely cottage in a beautiful location, but it lacked a personal touch. No welcome pack, washing up liquid, spare bin bags, toilet cleaner, washing powder or little things like sugar, oil salt etc. the cupboards were totally bare. A Smart TV with connections was weird especially as there was internet. Very comfortable, top stairs incredibly steep but no loo on middle floor so that was awkward.
