Whitwell, a charming rural village, is ideal for cyclists and walkers, with numerous routes to explore, many of which offer panoramic views and a plethora of wildlife. The village is home to the island's oldest pub, which dates back to the 15th century, and if you enjoy a spot of fishing then you can take advantage of the local fishing lakes. Ventnor is a well known suntrap with a beautiful sandy beach and gorgeous botanical gardens, which feature a diverse collection of tropical plants (3.5 miles). The nearby beach at Steephill Cove is only accessible on foot and offers a quiet, secluded cove with a seafront restaurant. If you're interested in the island's history, start with the castle at Carisbrooke (8 miles). Niton (1.5 miles) and Godshill (3 miles) are charming villages with lovely thatched cottages and a variety of tearooms. Osborne House, Blackgang Chine, The Needles, and Cowes are all within 15 miles.
