Ryde, often called the "The Gateway to the Island," is the biggest town on the Isle of Wight and was a famous holiday resort in the 1820s. Today, regular ferry, catamaran, and hovercraft services end up making this beautiful resort accessible to everyone. There's so much to see and do in the town and surrounding region, catering to all ages and interests, including a large choice of shops, bars, and restaurants, and the 6 miles of wonderful, gently sloping sandy beaches are great for bathing.
