The town holds the oldest Carnival in the UK, when floats from all over the island come together to create the biggest, brightest spectacle of the year.On the journey back from Ryde towards Seaview be sure to stop at a place called Pluckpool Park. This was once a Victorian Fortification Battery used to guard the Solent; nowadays it’s the perfect place to enjoy the fantastic sea views. There is also a children’s play park, tennis courts, mini golf and beautiful gardens.There is so much to do in the area, that after a busy day you will be pleased to come back to Tollgate Bungalows and relax in comfort. If you don’t feel like cooking the Boat House Pub and Restaurant is only metres away, serving fresh local produce.
