About this property

This beautiful property overlooks Pound Green, on the outskirts of the lovely coastal town of Freshwater, which offers a choice of shops, pub and a leisure centre with indoor swimming pool. Nearby are the stunning shingle beaches and beautiful scenery of both Freshwater Bay and Totland Bay, and the secluded sandy cove of Colwell. You can also head to the popular coastal town of Yarmouth, renowned for its sailing, which also offers a variety of good restaurants. This is a wonderful area for walks and bike rides with footpaths leading to Tennyson Down and on to Carisbrooke, or you can enjoy the stunning coastal path and The Needles at Alum Bay the most westerly point of the island. This fantastic detached Grade II listed cottage, dating back to the 1700s, retains its charm and many of its original features including a thatched roof. On entering this spacious and comfortable property you will find yourself in the light and airy lounge which has plenty of comfy seating, TV/DVD, a flame effect electric fire and French doors which open onto a patio. There is a second, smaller lounge with attractive seating, TV/DVD/video, and is a great place for children to relax and play in. Exploring further you will find a charming dining area where you can enjoy a meal in style. Moving into the attractively designed kitchen you will find it fully equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, and dishwasher. Two fridge/freezers, a washing machine and tumble dryer are also provided. There is an additional bathroom on the ground floor with a shower over the bath and a WC. The property has five cosy bedrooms which are all upstairs and can be accessed by two staircases. The first staircase leads up to a double room and a twin room. The second staircase leads up to a spacious triple bedroom with three single beds, and two double bedrooms, one of which has an en suite shower room with WC. There is also a bathroom complete with shower over the bath and a WC. A connecting door between the triple bedroom and one of the double rooms can be unlocked to provide easy access between all the upstairs rooms. A folding bed can be provided for children to sleep in with parents if within maximum cottage numbers. Please be aware that the open fires cannot be used. Stepping outside, you will find a very pretty front garden with a beautiful lawn and some lovely ancient trees, which give the cottage a picture box appearance. To the rear of the cottage is a spacious and secluded fenced garden with a wonderful patio area with garden furniture so you can enjoy dining in the sunshine. Please note, due to the risk of fire, barbecues are not permitted. A small number of steps lead up to a large lawn with areas of shrubs where you play games or sit back and relax. To the side of the cottage is a drive, which leads to the rear of the property where there is parking for four cars and an electric vehicle charging point.
