About this property

Found next to the owners working livestock farm, located in Northwood on the Isle of Wight, is Somerton Farm, an incredibly spacious and tranquil property, overlooking rolling fields with plenty of space to spread out. Offering a true paradise for all the family thanks to the large garden areas, you are blessed with a real sense of peacefulness without being completely remote, being within easy reach of the wonderful town of Cowes. Enter into the large communal courtyard and be impressed by the beautiful stone barn and traditional stables, park up in the off-road parking spaces and make your way inside your new home from home. Within this homely property, relax within the delightful sitting room and watch a film on the Smart TV, choose from several sofas or the armchair to curl up in and wind down after a busy day. Spend a rainy afternoon being entertained within the snug-come-games room, where table football will bring out the competitive side in some, as well as there being a TV with DVD player in here too. A formal evening meal can be enjoyed in the dining room, with dual aspect windows helping to create a beautiful setting, you can celebrate a special birthday or occasion with all of your loved ones amidst. Over in the kitchen you can prepare anything from picnics, to breakfast, to quick lunches or large feasts, making use of the excellent appliances at hand, including an electric oven and hob, with an old fashioned larder to store your supplies in. Head upstairs to find four lovely bedrooms with views over the fields and the courtyard; choose from either a king-size bedroom which boasts an en-suite shower room, an impressive super-king-size bedroom, or either of the two pretty twin rooms, so everyone is sure to have a pleasant spot to wind down in at the end of the day. Completing the interior is the stylish family bathroom where you can save an hour for yourself and indulge in a long hot soak in the tub. Spend summer days in the beautiful and rustic garden, sheltered by a willow tree, it provides an outdoor haven for the children to run around in, with a secret wild garden behind which is perfect for hide and seek. A gravelled patio area is the perfect place to sit at the furniture with a refreshing drink, with views over the fields and the River Medina. Somerton sits along the edge of the north-west side of the River Medina, between Northwood and West Cowes, on the main cycle path from Cowes to Newport, so take the dog out and walk the Cowes to Yarmouth coastal footpath, passing wonderful villages like Gurnard and Newtown and ending in delightful Yarmouth. Just a short walk away you can find the local supermarket, making a lovely stroll in the summer months amongst private lanes where you can truly soak in your scenery. The island offers a whole host of entertainment, visit the Carisbrooke Castle in Newport where Charles I was imprisoned by Cromwell, see the beautiful butterflies at Butterfly World, and be amazed at the delicious local produce to be found in local shops and delis, including Isle of Wight garlic, tomatoes, and even gin, you can scoop up some ingredients for a tasty meal to make back at Somerton Farm.

The bustling port of Cowes is situated by the mouth of the river Medina, and is divided into two distinct towns, linked by the regular floating bridge chain ferry. Both communities have much to offer visitors, with West Cowes known as a world famous yachting centre, with superb facilities for all kinds of watersports, as well as being considered the cycling gateway to the island with the National Cycle Route 23 running through it. It also has a beach and a wealth of excellent restaurants, inns, and plenty of interesting niche shops; there is something for everyone with a fabulous vibe. East Cowes is best known for Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s Italian style country retreat - a tour of the sumptuous royal apartments and magnificent gardens is a must. Cowes is an ideal base for exploring the rest of the island, such as sandy beaches, lovely walking country, picturesque chines and many family attractions such as the The Needles and the Isle of Wight music festival.
