Higher Farm is located just 6 miles from the New Forest National Park in the quiet, picturesque village of Martin within a conservation area and on the edge of Martin Down National Nature Reserve. These two single-storey barn conversions, adjoining one another, were formerly the saddle room and stables for the small farm and have been transformed into very comfortable, tastefully furnished and immaculately presented holiday accommodation with a contemporary, light and airy feel. On the farm guests are welcome to walk up and see the animals, which including chickens, horses and ponies and a small flock of sheep grazing in the fields. Each property has a personal sitting out area at the front, in addition to tables and chairs on the orchard. There is also a bicycle store, barbecue and croquet set. The village of Martin is set in the Cranborne Chase and West Wilshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (aonb) and offers excellent scenic walks and cycle rides from the farm. The village has its own small community-run shop which opens twice a day on week days (9am-11am and 5pm-6pm) and once in the morning on Saturdays (9am-12.30pm) as well as an historic Norman church. The medieval city of Salisbury, 8 miles, has its famous cathedral spire and close, individual shops, pubs and restaurants, a theatre and a cinema which is housed in the old wool market, offers a unique cinema experience. The New Forest National Park boundary is a picturesque drive of around 6 miles and Godshill always has lots of New Forest ponies and cattle to enjoy. Fordingbridge is known for its famous medieval stone bridge with its fine arches; it boasts plenty of shops, pubs and cafés and there are excellent walks along the river. Within easy driving distance are the world heritage sites at Stonehenge and Dorset’s stunning Jurassic Coast including Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove, Longleat, Marwell Zoo, Paultons Park, Peppa Pig World, Monkey World, Bovington Tank Museum, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard including the Marie Rose and HMS Victory. Wonderful sandy beaches are to be found at Bournemouth, Studland and Mudeford. Small shop (limited opening times) in village, shop 6 miles, pub 3 miles.
This property is situated on a working farm therefore pets must be kept on a lead and children must be supervised at all times.
