About this property

Stay in this quaint cottage for four, perfect for couples or families in the heart of ancient Rye

You enter the cottage, straight into the lounge, the focal point being the original fireplace, which has a nice gas fire to add to the atmosphere. The room is light and airy with comfy sofas making for a relaxing setting, especially after long days spent exploring the surrounding area. A couple of steps up and you have a steep set of stairs leading down to the TV/games room, the perfect hideout for the children in the party. A selection of books and board games have been provided to fill any spare time between days out. The dining room is just off the galley kitchen and provides comfortable, dining, a great entertaining space. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you could need for your holiday catering. Off the kitchen is a cloakroom and the glazed door leading to the courtyard garden. The garden has raised planted flower beds, outside table and seating, lighting and is a real sun trap, perfect for lazy breakfasts or for enjoying an evening's glass of wine.

Stairs lead up off the dining room and here you will find two double bedrooms. The front bedroom overlooks the road and is spacious and has ample storage space for your holiday luggage. The back bedroom is slightly smaller but with a window overlooking the garden and rooftops of Rye. The bathroom can only be accessed from the back bedroom and you have a bath, overhead shower, WC and hand basin.

Your welcome pack from the owner is made up of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, handmade chocolate and a bottle of award winning Chapel Down Flint Dry white wine - excellent for getting your holiday started the right way.

For young families a travel cot and high chair can be provided, so one less thing to pack.

Although the cottage does not have parking facilities, there is road parking outside the cottage with time limitation, so please note. Local car parks are a five minute walk and are inexpensive, full details will be provided on booking.

Any day arrival may be possible outside of peak season, so please enquire by email or telephone.

Rye and beyond

Step out of the front door and you have Rye Museum directly next door, a great place to start when getting to know the local area.

A gentle stroll and you can visit the Heritage Centre where you can watch the town model's 'Sound and Light' show, which goes into detail about the history and the colourful past of Rye and its inhabitants. Or amble around the many antique shops in the Strand Quay and hunt out a bargain!

Just ten minutes drive away is the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, where you can walk along the sea wall and out on to marshes to enjoy the flora and fauna. You can choose to walk out to Camber Castle, originally located on a shingle spit and where once it protected the towns of Rye and Winchelsea before the sea receded. Although no longer open to visitors, it is still a striking landmark worth a visit. The award winning beach of Camber Sands is just a short drive away and has miles of sandy beach and dunes to explore. Or visit the rock pools at low tide on the pebbly beach at Pett Level, just a ten minute drive from Rye.

The towns of Hastings and Ashford are around a thirty minute drive away and here you can get mainline trains to London if you wish to explore the capital for a day. If you would like to take a day trip to the continent, the Eurostar can be picked up from Ashford International Station, and trains to Paris, Lille and Bruges are available. Alternatively, the ferries run from Dover, just 45 minutes away or the Channel Tunnel from Folkestone, a 45 minute drive.

Fantastic cottage right in the centre of beautiful Rye. We've had a great week - so much to do and see, restaurants and pubs on the doorstep. Our batteries are totally recharged. Thank you so much.

Crown Cottage is a lovely cottage with an excellent standard of facilities and cleanliness. Would definitely stay there again on our next visit to Rye. Cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed. Great location in the old part of town near to both the church and Ypres Tower. Lovely courtyard garden perfect for having meals al fresco. We loved every minute of our stay
