16 The Boathouse in Rye receives consistently positive feedback for its immaculate cleanliness, excellent riverside location, and comfortable, well-equipped accommodation. Guests appreciate the easy walking distance to Rye’s centre, allocated parking, and peaceful views of the river and wildlife. Thoughtful touches from the owner, such as clear instructions and occasional welcome gifts, are frequently mentioned. Minor issues, such as the removal of the DVD player, a potholed access road, and occasional maintenance suggestions, are noted but do not detract from the overwhelmingly positive experience.
Cleanliness is repeatedly praised, with many guests describing the apartment as spotless, immaculate, and very well maintained. No significant negative comments were found regarding cleanliness.
The location is highly rated, with guests loving the riverside setting, proximity to Rye town centre, and easy access to walks, public transport, and local attractions. The only minor negative is the potholed access road, but this does not significantly impact the overall impression.
Guests frequently mention the apartment’s comfort, warmth, and cosiness. The bed and sofa are generally well received, though a few guests found the mattress firm or the sofa saggy. These are personal preferences and do not detract from the overall comfort.
The apartment is described as very well equipped, with all necessary utensils and amenities. Some guests noted the removal of the DVD player and suggested minor improvements (e.g., oven tray, non-slip bath mat), but overall satisfaction with facilities is high.
Many guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as clear instructions, binoculars, and occasional welcome gifts like wine or beer. However, as gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, guests should not expect them as standard.

A superb Rye cottage alternative for a relaxing break.
Rye is an ancient town Perched on a hill, overlooking the River Rother and Romney Marsh. It has enchanting cobbled streets, a medieval church and beautifully preserved historic houses from medieval, Tudor and Georgian times, giving the town a uniquely unhurried atmosphere. Rye has many ancient and interesting buildings that bear testimony to its eventful past, including The Ypres Tower, Landgate and the Town Wall. In early September, the town assumes a different atmosphere, as the Rye Arts Festival takes place. Here, you can experience the delights of Classical music, Jazz, Blues and Folk, Comedy, and Literary events bringing the best of the Arts to Rye. In recent years the town has played host to performers such as Humphrey Lyttleton, Susannah York, The Menuhin Grafin Walfisch trio, Eliza Carthy, Lady Antonia Fraser, Nina Conti and the London Bulgarian Choir. Joining instructions were very clear and precise, and we even had a bottle of wine and a couple of beers to welcome us. We would certainly consider a revisit at some time.

Clean and bright and rooms well laid out. Location of property was very close to town and pubs etc. Only a short 5min walk away. Was great to look out of balcony and see tide filling and emptying the river we overlooked. One small inaccuracy which did not affect our stay at all was no Alexa, but the sonus speaker more than made up for that. All in all a great property.

Watching the river rise and fall is entertainment on its own. Nice, warm and comfortable. Firm bed which suited us well. Information provided by host clear and comprehensive. Additional info provided on Rye also welcome. 5 minute walk into town or bus stop. Very quiet location, not disturbed by anyone.
