The views of the river and wildlife add to the charm, and the thoughtful touches by the owner, such as welcome gifts, are appreciated. Reviewers frequently mention the apartment's spotless condition and high standards of cleanliness, contributing to a very positive impression.

The property's proximity to Rye town centre, scenic walks, and public transport is highly valued by guests, though the potholed access road is a noted drawback.

The property is well-equipped with quality utensils and towels, though some guests suggest additions like an oven tray, non-slip bath mat, and maintenance of taps.

Guests appreciate the thoughtful gestures such as welcome gifts of wine and beer, though it is politely noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

A modern, one-bedroom first floor apartment with a Juliet balcony, overlooking the quay of the River Rother, in the Cinque Port of Rye. Stylishly decorated and furnished, offering a sleek alternative to the more traditional Sussex cottages, this 3* Gold Award apartment is cosy and comfortable, with lovely views over the boats that pass through the quay at high tide, and to open fields beyond. The apartment is centrally located, with the amenities of the town a short walk away. Rye offers a museum, swimming pool, windsurfing lake, dinghy sailing, independent shops, galleries and weekly markets. Fishing, cycle hire, horse riding, tennis and golf are also in the locality. Camber Sands, 5 miles away, offers a kitesurfing course and swimming, or visit Battle, 16 miles away, an historic town built upon the site where William the Conqueror defeated King Harold. A superb Rye cottage alternative for a relaxing break.

Rye is an ancient town Perched on a hill, overlooking the River Rother and Romney Marsh. It has enchanting cobbled streets, a medieval church and beautifully preserved historic houses from medieval, Tudor and Georgian times, giving the town a uniquely unhurried atmosphere. Rye has many ancient and interesting buildings that bear testimony to its eventful past, including The Ypres Tower, Landgate and the Town Wall. In early September, the town assumes a different atmosphere, as the Rye Arts Festival takes place. Here, you can experience the delights of Classical music, Jazz, Blues and Folk, Comedy, and Literary events bringing the best of the Arts to Rye. In recent years the town has played host to performers such as Humphrey Lyttleton, Susannah York, The Menuhin Grafin Walfisch trio, Eliza Carthy, Lady Antonia Fraser, Nina Conti and the London Bulgarian Choir. If that wasn't enough, Rye is also within easy access of other attractions, such as Camber Sands, the Rye harbour Nature Reserve and Winchelsea Village.

Watching the river rise and fall is entertainment on its own. Nice, warm and comfortable. Firm bed which suited us well. Information provided by host clear and comprehensive. Additional info provided on Rye also welcome. 5 minute walk into town or bus stop. Very quiet location, not disturbed by anyone.

Warm and cosy during a cold November. Would visit again.

Flat was as well maintained as two years previously. Warm all over and plenty of hot water. Location is good for visiting Rye with its shops and cafes. From the flat we walked to Rye harbour and Camber sands. This time we visited the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway, went by bus and travelled on the railway, a good day.
