About this property

Stay in this luxurious holiday apartment for two, just minutes from the golden sands of Camber beach and four miles from medieval Rye

Kittiwake has been furnished to a very high standard, soft furnishings, paintings and ornaments, a real mix of beach chic meets cosy cottage. The property is a one bedroom apartment on the award winning 'Whitesands' in Camber Sands, the perfect couples retreat.

You enter through the front door into a hallway with a downstairs WC. The hallway leads to the open plan living area. This space has 2 large sofa's, one being a double sofa bed, a dining table for 4 and a gallery style kitchen. The owners have tried to think of everything you could need, for your holiday by the sea. The focal point of the lounge is a flame effect electric fire, with the TV mounted above. There are a selection of DVD's for those rainy days.

The kitchen is well equipped, with electric hob and oven, washer/dryer, microwave and coffee machine.

Upstairs is the master suite with a double bed, wardrobes, dressing area and ensuite bathroom, with WC, hand basin, bath with a shower attachment. There is also a separate shower room and hand basin on this floor.

Just outside the property to the right of the front door is a small grassy area, where you can place the picnic table and chairs and enjoy an afternoon cup of tea or glass of wine.

If you wish to stay with a baby, a travel cot and highchair can be requested.

The sofa bed needs to be requested on booking and incurs a supplement for the additional linen and towels and to make sure it is prepared for your stay.

Kittiwake is dog friendly even though it doesn't have its own garden, why would you need one, when the beautiful Camber Sands beach is a gentle, 7 minute stroll from the apartment. And, as the owners feel they are part of the family, no addittional charge is applied for bringing your dog on holiday with you.

Camber Sands and beyond

The Sussex village of Camber, has much to offer, with its beautiful sandy beach, which stretches for miles and safe bathing. The village has various small shops, a Post Office, two pubs, a wine bar and The Gallivant restaurant. A variety of activities can be enjoyed including kite surfing, kite buggying, surfing, land yachting, horse riding, fishing as well as numerous other activities both on the beach and nearby, including the wildlife havens at Dungeness and Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. Water sports are taught at Rye Water Sports lake, which is only one mile away.

The medieval town of Rye is just 4 miles away. There you can visit the Heritage Centre where you can watch the Town model's 'Sound and Light' show, which goes into detail about the history and the colourful past of Rye and it's inhabitants. Or amble around the many antique shops in the Strand Quay and hunt out a bargain!

The town of Winchelsea is a ten minute drive away and like Rye, has a rich history and links to the days of smugglers. One of the many cellar tours that take place during the year, is a worthy visit and a chance to see parts of the town that are not normally on show. With far reaching views over the marshes and out to sea, it really is a pleasant way to spend a few hours and the delightful tea room is a great place to stop for refreshments.

Just 10 minutes drive away is the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, where you can walk along the sea wall and out on to the marshes to enjoy floral and fauna. You can choose to walk out to Camber Castle, originally located on a shingle spit and where once, it protected the towns of Rye and Winchelsea, before the sea receded. Although no longer open to visitor's, it is still a striking land mark worth a visit. The award winning, blue flag beach of Camber Sands is just a short drive away and has miles of sandy beach and dunes to explore. Or visit the rock pools at low tide on the pebbly beach at Pett Level, just a 10 minute drive from Rye.

The Towns of Hastings and Ashford are around a thirty minute drive away and here you can get main line trains to London, if you wish to explore the capital for a day. If you would like to take a day trip to the continent , the Eurostar can be picked up from Ashford International station and trains to Paris, Lille and Brussels are available. Alternatively, the ferries run from Dover, just 45 minutes away or the Channel Tunnel from Folkestone, a 45 minute drive.

We liked the house very much. It was clean and tidy. That the beach was so close, was one of the most important things.
