About this property

A one bedroom apartment in the heart of Hastings Old Town renovated with a contemporary feel but remaining sympathetic to its Georgian past, minutes from the bustling High Street. The perfect romantic retreat with everything on your doorstep.

You climb the well worn steps up from the road to the front door of Sea Valley. You enter straight into the long hallway with original Georgian panelling and tasteful decor. The first door leads to the large lounge/diner with its Georgian bay window looking out to the front. Here you can catch a good glimpse of the sea in the distance, as well as the rooftops of Hastings Old Town. The dining table has been positioned in front of the window, so you can enjoy the view over breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are two large leather sofas, a large TV with DVD and Bluetooth speakers so you can pair your own devices to enjoy your music.

From the lounge you have the double bedroom, tastefully decorated and cosy. Next door is the modern shower room, with walk in shower.

The hallway leads to the galley style kitchen, narrow but plenty of work surfaces if you wish to cook a big meal. One of the apartment's best features is the outside, partly covered courtyard garden. With the cliff as your backdrop, superb outside lighting, a dining area in situ, it is the perfect quirky outside dining room and with the wind in a certain direction, you occasionally hear the chanting in the tunnels behind the cliff of the smugglers tales.

Hastings and beyond

Within minutes of the thriving High Street you are spoilt for choice. The Old Town is an eclectic mix of bric a brac shops, galleries, independent boutiques, restaurants, pubs and coffee stops. It is hard to pass the window of the award winning Judges Bakery, without being tempted to go in, you have been warned. If you are looking for evening entertainment then take in a film at the Electric Palace Cinema, an independent community based cinema which aims to bring you a wide choice of alternative films and film related events. Looking to explore the Country Park then why not take the funicular up to the top or if feeling fit the many steps, the view is worth the effort and you can walk for miles taking in the cliff views. Hastings Pier is located a pleasant walk along the seafront and throughout the year holds music events, so worth seeing if there is something that takes your fancy before your visit, as tickets sell fast. The town is famous for the biggest fishing fleet in Europe and much of the tradition has been kept. The net drying huts and fishing fleet can be found on the beach today, along with the many fresh fish stalls. The Jerwood Gallery is found close by and The Shipwreck and Coastal Heritage Museum is worth a visit.

You are of course in 1066 Country and with that comes castles, National Trust Gardens and grand houses, plenty to visit during your stay but too many for me to list.
