… in the oldest part of Minehead, on a quiet road close to the church and within walking distance of the town and the heather-clad hills behind, is Pilgrim Corner, a ‘chocolate box’ attached thatched cottage with an interior full of period features and both charming and quirky. To the back of the cottage, an enclosed private garden with large terrace (table/chairs), pond (grille) and bloom-filled terraces. Hidden at one end, a summerhouse, traditional cedar hot tub for 8 and changing cabin. 

From the road, 5 steps up to front door and hall with, to one side, an elegant living room with beams (some low), woodburner, window seats and TV/DVD/Blu-ray. Step down from hall to farmhouse-style beamed kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, range-style gas cooker, larder fridge) with breakfast table/chairs. Three steps up to utility area with washing machine, tumble drier, fridge-freezer and door to garden. Dining room with sloping ceilings, iPod dock and views over the rear terrace/garden. Downstairs loo. From the dining room, door to a twin bedroom called ‘The Garden’ with en suite shower and separate loo. 

From the living room, stairs wind up to spacious landing and three double bedrooms, all themed and beautifully presented – at one end, ‘Vogue’ with 5’ bed, bold colour scheme, period furniture and en suite bathroom (suite, shower over bath, hand-shower); ‘Dance’ has views over surrounding historic houses and neatly fitted en suite shower-room (suite); ‘Peacock’ has a mirrored vestibule entrance, 5’ bed, beams and large en suite shower-room (suite).
