Pistyll Rhaeadr is Wales’ highest waterfall and certainly worth a visit, located a few miles from the village of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant and offering walking routes through the stunning nature while Lake Vyrnwy is only a short drive away and has a canoe and kayak center. For those looking thrill seekers, the well know Revolution Park is located almost on the doorstep of the property and offers superb downhill mountain biking. Brush up on local history by spending an afternoon discovering the nearby National Trust castles; Chirk Castle is a popular tourist destination and known for its 700 year history and beautifully-kept gardens, and Powis Castle, which sits dramatically, towering over its pretty surrounding grounds. Enjoy a scenic drive around the area stopping at the magnificent beaches of the Cambrian Coast for a day at the seaside with with a fish and chip supper. Venture out to the Snowdonia National Park, here you can unleash your inner explorer and wander through the spectacular landscapes, hard to find anywhere else. With views over the Berwyn Mountains and wooded hills and valley, the village of Llangynog is a lovely destination for a holiday. In an area popular for climbing, walking, birdwatching and mountain biking, Llangynog village also has two pubs which serve food, making it a great base for relaxing after a day spent outdoors. Nearby are Lake Vyrnwy and Lake Bala, which both offer good fishing and watersports and make a good spot for a picnic. For those who fancy venturing further afield, the attractions of Mid and North Wales, and also Shropshire, await you.
