About this property

A luxury detached cottage set in the delightful village of Westhope in Shropshire. Set in a beautiful location with a sufficient space inside and out, this property is perfect for big groups in the stunning countryside. The inviting exterior with stone walls and oak window and door frames welcome you into the well-equipped, spacious kitchen, finished with stylish, modern equipment and decor. Despite being a large cottage, The Old Farmhouse has a certain homely feel to it, with a stately dining table and woodburner sat under traditional wooden beams setting it off wonderfully. The large sitting room overlooks the astounding garden and countryside beyond, whilst being complete with contemporary furniture, underfloor heating, bi-fold doors and a 50'' Smart TV; it makes the perfect chill area. The downstairs is complete with a bright and airy double bedroom and an en-suite shower room. The upstairs reveals four stunning bedrooms with charming decoration and views towards the stunning scenery. The vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and comfortable beds really make this a family and friends cottage. The garden is nothing short of sensational, beautifully landscaped with flashy furniture and a hot tub, you will do well to even leave this cottage and get into Westhope itself. The garden also contains a compact yet impressive studio living area, decorated beautifully and set away from the main building for those who like to get away. An astounding cottage in a fantastic area of England.

Craven Arms is an ideal base, which nestles close to the scenic Wenlock Edge and Corvedale Valley with fine walks from the town to lovely Stokesay Castle, one of England's finest fortified manors, or the very popular Shropshire Hill Discovery Centre. The town hascharming and historic houses, including a round house, thought to be a recognisable rest house for pilgrims travelling between Wigmore and Shrewsbury Abbeys and the fascinating 'Museum of Lost Content'. Just two miles away in the village of Wistanstow is the Plough Inn, a good local wood brewery. Church Stretton is close by and nestles between the Long Mynd and Caradoc Hills, renowned for their scenic walks and excellent golf course.

This is one of the nicest places we have stayed. Location, facilities, space were perfect. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained with plenty of seating. We never go to the same place twice but this may be the exception!

Everything we needed was there! The property was spotlessly clean on arrival, the wine, cake and chocolate a very much appreciated gesture! There is so much space for everyone and it was perfect that we could all sit together at meal times in the fab dining room! The garden is exceptional, the hot tub was fab, we all loved being able to enjoy it all because we were fortunate with such good weather. Only thing we were disappointed in was the sun beds (two) were broken and unable to use them, but a picnic blanket on the grass works just as well! We loved it - thank you for letting us stay and we hope to be able to come again!

A couple of practical things that could improve it would be: If the four poster room had an en-suite. It seems the number one room for size and gives an impact when you walk in and yet no en-suite. Increasing bathroom capacity would be good. Also the door on the kitchen should have a lock as it was time consuming to keep trying to hold it shut with a door stop that perhaps wasn’t quite heavy enough for the job whilst people were going in and out to the lovely large porch area to get loaded and unloaded. This was particularly challenging with small fast dogs and an infant. A good addition would be a stable door so that the bottom could be shut and the kitchen would also benefit from the stream of light coming into the porch. The door to the downstairs bedroom and bathroom area would also benefit from being able to shut properly. Another practical aspect is 9.30am is too early to get 12 people up and out. I do appreciate there has to be turnover time but feel 9.30 is pushing it. Kitchen additions - some wooden spoons please and a bigger toaster! Also it would be helpful to have a given time of hot tub check as the gate was left open without warning and with small fast dogs and an infant this was a bit of a worry. Overall the holiday was amazing with plenty of room inside and out. Would definitely recommend and yes would go again.
