About this property

A traditional end-terrace cottage, perched high on a hill in a tranquil position, overlooking the old spa town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea. With glorious views over the coastline and countryside, it is in an idyllic location for walking, touring or enjoying a family holiday by the sea. With a homely feel throughout, there is a comfortable sitting room with a warming open fire set in the original Victorian fireplace; perfect for cosy nights in the cooler evenings. The bright but simple kitchen has a dining area at one end, while upstairs are two cheerful bedrooms with splendid views over the sea and open countryside. Outside, there is private parking for one car and parking for an additional car in the garden area. This generous-sized enclosed wildlife garden, complete with pond, is accessed via a communal lane and is designed to promote local wildlife. A short stroll down the hill brings you to the golden sands of this seaside resort, with its pier and historic cliff lift. Enjoy a walk from the seafront through the ornamental Valley Gardens to the town centre, where there are many independent shops, galleries, tea rooms and restaurants to choose from. This small, traditional spa town retains its original elegance and charm, and offers fabulous clifftop walking opportunities on the Cleveland Way and a network of public footpaths. The surrounding area is ripe for exploring, with easy access to spectacular moorland and pretty coastal villages, including Staithes and Runswick Bay. With many attractions close by, such as the steam railway at Grosmont and the Danby Moors Centre Exhibition Centre, this cottage provides a lovely base for a happy holiday.

The Victorian seaside resort of Saltburn-by-the-Sea is well named owing to the sweeping sandy beaches and spectacular coastline of glacial boulder clays. Located at the northern tip of the North York Moors, this small town has an elegant charm about it with a dramatic steep curving roadway which leads from the town centre to the beach. Enjoy the wide vistas from the elevated promenade or visit the Valley Gardens for a relaxing stroll.

The position of the cottage was perfect for Saltburn and surrounding areas. We had prebooked The Ship, Tomahawk Steak House and Seaview Restaurant which were all within walking distance and fabulous. If there were any negative points they were as follows. Road leading to the cottage was horrendous, big pot holes and a mound of gravel and earth which was worrying when driving in the dark as Road not lit very well and only room for one car at a time. This could be out in the information details. Thankfully we didn't meet another car on the track. The fench was being replaced but there was a big section unfinished which wasnt really dog friendly. The sofas in the cottage were not the best for comfort especially when it is four adults spending the evening in. The cottage itself was warm and cosy although slightly dated. The TV in the main bedroom could be positioned better, we thought, possibly hung on the wall near the door. I do apologise I removed a picture from the bedroom wall, which I found a bit spooky and placed it under the bed.

Very difficult to see the green light because of switch being near a wall. Outside space at door needs some sort of solid surfacing to cover mud The cottage itself was very comfortable
